Speak for yourself, I've got Linux, beans, and video games!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago

How could I forget the beans?!?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You forgot Linux... Apologize!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Sorry! I was debating adding FOSS, but wanted to keep the joke running about everything being political.

MEMES, SOCIAL MEDIA REPOSTS, AND HUMOR (NON-POLITICAL)

Most of these are currently active. (except for the ones with a * which were less active last I checked). Sometimes politics sneaks in but that's not the focus.

Or make an account on programming.dev, where political communities are hidden from all if you arent subscribed to them

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 weeks ago

Sigh, it really was so much less political just a few months ago. Feels to me like the content changed due to how crazy the political situation got in the US (bleeding over into lots of other places too of course), which is understandable but sucks.

Wrong! We have *breath deeply*:

[email protected] And that's just at the top of my head. We build the PixelFed public even before there was PixelFed.

Appreciate the list! I see these now and then -- they just tend to get buried by everything else.

An alt for lighthearted topic can definitely help

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

Hmm, sounds like the Star Trek memers are slacking today.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago

I use Debian btw

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Definitely give the cats community a sub

There are some good cats there that have trained their humans to care for them very well.

I'm on /all/new all day, you folks got no idea what I see

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

I know.

I know.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago

I'm right there with ya, pal

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You should be commenting then... I don't see you commenting, need to get these rookie numbers up.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

I comment all the time lol, check my history

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Changing the sort type to Scaled helps a bit, but yeah I do wish there was a way to limit the number of post a comm can have in the local feed.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I was half serious about moving to [email protected], if that's an issue for feddit.uk users to have that community taking too much space in their local feed

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Don't worry, it's really the most minor of inconveniences, I just fancied making a joke

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

Good to hear!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago

It's not an issue at all, just need to change my habits a bit (besides if I did have a problem I could just block the comm).

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I subscribe to both "buying Europe things" communities and let me tell you, Scaled does NOT reduce the amount of post from them on the front page

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

You're missing out on [email protected] !

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Maybe it's time to move to [email protected], I don't think lemm.ee users use their local feed as much as the feddit.uk ones

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

There is also the feddit.org alternative 😏

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago

I don't know, I think having too many European communities ([email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] ) on the same server seems like we are re-creating Reddit, shouldn't we have different similar communities on every instance possible? That way we'll be fully decentralized, with thousands of communities with one person posting!

/s, for people curious about the context: [email protected]

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't think the issue is where it's hosted. The issue is that the software allows it to dominate. Things like this should drive improvements in the front ends.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

Oh, that as well, we there only that many volunteers working on the front end

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago

Order by "new" you won't avoid having the many posts of that one community but at least they won't be the only one top of the page
