The irony of having all the people who tried to get AI to do all the work for them and replace human labor becoming the new global forced labor class would be pretty ironic.

Good and totally reasonable. It's time we stop the idea that AI companies have carte blanche to do whatever the fuck they want with other people's works.
Are people still using Suno? I swear it's been at least a year since I last heard about them. The novelty effect faded pretty quick, it seems.
There's folks that spam music streaming services with thousands of AI-generated songs in hopes of making a few bucks.
So, you don't actually need it to be hugely popular for it to hurt artists...
Do they get any listens, tho ? Generating thousands of songs is not quick or cheap, and then if you have to pay for listens i don't see how that can be profitable. How many of those songs even make the monetization cutoff ?
It's kind of tinfoil hat but i've always suspected this kind of story was covert marketing from Suno themselves. I'm sure they would love to actually make a dent in the music world like that and it would make their investors look real smart. But maybe the real story is that they've raised 700 millions and they barely exist in their own industry.
That being said, I hope they get fucked in court again.

Granted, this is definitely also a marketing piece for Deezer to talk about how great their AI detection is, but I also don't think they would claim there to be more AI-generated songs than there really are, as they don't gain much from lying here.
At this point, other streaming services are also actively trying to curb back AI-generated songs, since they mostly just take up extra storage space. We've had such a massive abundance of songs before already, that you really just needed good curation, not more of them.
In that sense, I do assume that the AI-generated music is not seeing as many listens as the uploaders may have hoped for. And maybe that also means that they do not hurt artists quite as much in the end.
I imagine, these uploaders just hope for one song to do well, to not be detected as AI-generated etc., and for that song to pay for dozens more generated songs.
Good. I don't love copyright laws but I dislike AI, and double dislike "they can do what you want but you can't."
Sunos only competition got sued and then bought by universal and Warner's.
This is about market capture. They're dont want to remove it, they don't want to pay the artists, they don't want regular people to gen these on their own computer without giving them copyrights.
You know the only thing that changed when they wrestled control of Udio (Sunos competitor)? You can't download your generated songs without paying them and they slapped on extra copyrights on anything generated.
This is a joke. Copyright companies are not our friends.
Essentially thats going to happen to the entire internet. Ai is going to act as DRM for what used to be free information.
Imagine getting a paywall for asking what a safe temperature to cook chicken at.
The clearnet is going to continue to be devolved to nothing but a terminal you interact with to talk to an ai, and all information will be filtered through that ai which will push its own agenda and tell you what to buy and exclude what ad partners don't want you to buy/see.
You will have to be a turbo nerd to be able to access what is normal websites. It won't even be hard like its not hard to get into the fediverse. You just have to already be curious about it to even find it/give it ago, and that already filters out most people. I can't even access reddit anymore without providing a ID, and 90% of my google/duck searches are sourced from reddit. All these websites now restrict api access and block scrapers like crazy now that they already stole all the data on the internet. Essentially the internet is getting locked down for these ai companies, who will do nothing but abuse this position to the point where you are paying 2 dollars for a google search.
Europe, as per the usual, is leading the way on digital regulation. Love to see it.
