How is it that he's this much of a loser, but still controls the world.

After the January 6th insurrection he should have been hanged for treason.

The reason why the fascists want you to protest peacefully, is because it makes it easier for them to ignore you.

Yupes, good old “benevolent” sexism.

God I'm reminded of anytime I watch something from the 90's and then an asian character shows up....

It's not that I'm racist and go into "WOKE MOBS TOOK MY WHITES AWAY!!!11111" mode

It's that for the longest time in America, media was blatantly racist against basically everyone and in the 90's, the cold war was over, the best electronics came from Japan, so the media was trying (and failing) to learn how to be not so asiaphobic. This didn't mean "Don't do stereotypes!", this means "Do positive stereotypes"

So every show either had the one asian cast member or that one episode where the asian character showed up, and you could just HEAR the writers saying "Oh no, so he's very proud of his heritage and is very smart, so it's a positive thing. That makes up for his dialogue sounding like fortune cookies that have been put through google translate fifty times!"

And then you went into the 2000's and this also became how they wrote black characters.... Irwin from Billy and Mandy, Tucker from Danny Phantom, The Dino Thunder Blue Ranger, Richie from Static Sh.... wait.. Richie was the token white guy (In an amazing show I might add, god I should re-watch Static Shock)...... Well my point still stands, they're all the same fucking character "Oh no he's really dorky and super smart, so it's the exact opposite of the stereotype is the joke!"

Doing the exact opposite of the stereotype still calls attention to the stereotype, god damn it!

Miles Morales has shades of this too, but he's nowhere near as insufferable as these characters and is far more believable as a "Black Nerd" than any of them.

Sorry, I remembered "Benevolent Racism" when you mentioned benevolent sexism, and that awakened that.

It's really weird when the 90's show you're watching is based on an Asian Property and it does this nonsense, because I look at characters like "Kong Fu" from Donkey Kong Country, or the one episode of Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog where Scratch and Grounder become "Ninja Robots" by draining the asianess from this Samurai Crane (I know samurai aren't ninjas, but tell the show that), and I'm like... "Wow, I wonder how Shigeru Miyamoto and Yuji Naka felt if they ever saw this shit... Except fuck Yuji Naka, he's a bit of a dick.... The AoStH Episode is still fucked up though."

Not really I've been doing my shopping at either Food Lion or Steam, anything else hasn't been a priority

If you need an AR-15 to feel safe at Target, the problem is you....

Or you're a character in Fallout and there are Raiders in the Super Duper Mart

I'm reminded of when McDonalds did their Rick and Morty szechuan sauce promotion, and basically no place actually had it.

It was a big story that Rick and Morty fans harassed workers complaining that the franchise lied to them.

It got so bad that McDonalds released an app to show where and when stories had the sauce, and announced they'd be selling posters as well. Unfortunately, some locations lied or at least misused the app to say they had the sauce when they didn't.

So I went to one location with my brother, and we found a line forming outside. The store wasn't allowed to sell the posters till late in the afternoon for some reason, and wouldn't let anyone there for the sauce even enter the building with cashiers actively blocking any Rick and Morty fan from entering, even just looking college age was enough to be refused entry.

I thought this was ridiculous and just said "Wow, the only thing that'd make this worse is if they didn't have the sauce.", only for the lady guarding the door to tell me that they did indeed not have the sauce, despite the app saying they did.

There was this guy simping hard for her, mi'lady style, and a bunch of brodudes talking about how they're so Nihilistic and Smart "JUST LIEK RICK!", whole thing was a shit show. He said "Oh yeah, no they don't have the sauce, I asked."

He was eating cheeseburgers despite not being allowed in, apparently you could have the food brought out to you if you used the app.

It was fucking cold that day. Still feels like, even false advertising aside, something about this had to be illegal.

So I said "Fuck this, I'm leaving.", just got into my car, went to Wendy's, ordered chicken nuggets and the most asian sounding sauce they had. Posted one of the only food selfies I've ever done of what I ordered

"Was going to post me eating the sauce, but I went to Wendy's instead because this store actually has products they claim to offer."

A friend of mine asked the next day what was up with that post, because Food Selfies or even regular selfies are just THAT out of character for me, and I told him the story.

He looked at me geniunely impressed, and said "Wait, you valued your own self-respect over the 'cool corporate thing', voiced your dissatisfaction, and calmly left without making a scene or embarassing yourself? If anyone was Rick at this event, it was you"

I just said "Huh", as I didn't do that to be cool, I was just hungry, wanted to buy nuggets, and didn't get them from a store that lied about having them...

It was then that my brother, who had been with me when we went to McDonalds spoke up, admitting he didn't even think of what we actually did that day either, we just up and said "Screw you guys, I'm coming home." and said one of the wisest things I'll never forget

"If you think you're Rick, it means you're Jerry."

There is a tendency for real doctors with backing from Academia or whoever's in charge of deciding how you science to just plain getting it wrong and not realizing it for a long time.

Homeopathy is a good example of this, as it appeared to get great results when it was created during the Bubonic Plague and had such staying power to the point that in the 1800's it was considered a legitimate and mainstream field of medical practice.

Now today we know Homeopathy is nonsense... Remembers New Age Healing is still a thing Okay, those of us with sense know homeopathy is garbage. With the only reason it was getting such wonderful results was because the state of medicine for a long period of time in human history was so god awful that not getting any treatment at all was actually the smarter idea. Since Homeopathy is basically just "No medicine at all", that's exactly what was happening with its success.

Incidentally this is also why the Christian Science movement (Which was neither Christian nor Science) had so many people behind it, people were genuinely living longer from it because it required people to stop smoking at a time when no one knew smoking killed you.

Anyhow. With that in mind, I want to know if there's a case where the exact opposite happened.

Where Scientists got together on a subject, said "Wow, only an idiot would believe this. This clearly does not work, can not work, and is totally impossible."

Only for someone to turn around, throw down research proving that there was no pseudo in this proposed pseudoscience with their finest "Ya know I had to do it 'em" face.

The closest I can think of is how people believed that Germ Theory, the idea that tiny invisible creatures were making us all sick, were the ramblings of a mad man. But that was more a refusal to look at evidence, not having evidence that said "No" that was replaced by better evidence that said "Disregard that, the answer is actually Yes"

Can anyone who sciences for a living instead of merely reading science articles as a hobby and understanding basically only a quarter of them at best tell me if something like that has happened?

Thank you, have a nice day.

This is a bit of a rant, but please try to stick with me through the whole thing

So recently OSRS (Old School Runescape) has joined a list of games that have replaced "Male or Female" with "Body Type A or Body Type B" with you selecting your pronouns secondary.

And it made me furious, but I had to sit down and ask why such a small meaningless thing that I only see during the character creator pisses me off. After all, isn't this giving a seat at the table for Gender Non-Conforming/Non-Binary individuals?

So I tried thinking about this issue from the perspective of a Non-Binary individual. See I myself am female (Transgender MTF for what it's worth), so the only thing I'm ever going to pick is the female option unless I'm doing a challenge run where I try to roleplay Guybrush Threepywood (Mighty Pirate!) while playing Fallout 3...

That's when I realized why I absolutely hate Body Type A/Body Type B

This is not a solution to a problem, this is highlighting the issue.

As a woman, I look at "Body Type A or Body Type B" and think "Well, I'm a woman, not a Body Type B, and isn't it kinda misogynistic that the secondary option is the female one? Like A+ for Men, B- for Women?"

As someone is very much not cisgender, I look at it and go "Well, isn't every FTM going to pick Body Type A with male pronouns while MTFs like myself go with Body Type B with female pronouns? Who outside of a Far Right Troll trying and failing to be funny is gonna pick the buff bearded dude and select the she/her pronouns?"

It was only when I went "Let's pretend I don't exist in a male/female binary and see how I feel about it." that I realized why I absolutely DESPISE Body Type A/Body Type B

Because when I look at it from that angle, I realize that if I am a non-binary individual, my options are to look like an overly buff dude but occasionally NPCs will refer to me as a They/Them, or like an overly curvy chick who again sometimes gets called They/Them....

That's when I realized why Body Type A/Body Type B doesn't do it for me.

Games that do this aren't being progressive or inclusive, they're changing the color of the cup that my drink comes in and pretending it's an entirely new beverage.

I realized that if the choices in Body Type were something like

A - Buff Dude

B - Slim Dude

C - Fat Dude

D - Skinny Androgynous Individual who doesn't need a bra/binder

E - Fat Androgynous Individual who doesn't need a bra/binder

F - Skinny Androgynous Individual who requires bra/binder

G - Fat Androgynous Individual who requires bra/binder

I - Curvy Chick

J - Buff Chick

K - Fat Chick

L - Slim Chick

Maybe have also an option for a big buff masculine dude who has big tits, because that's just how he rolls, I dunno just thinking aloud here....

My point is that gaming could abandon "A/B" in favor of something more like an actual spectrum of Height, Weight, and Gender Presentation instead of just awkwardly renaming the binary? I wouldn't get so up in arms about gender replacing body type.

I don't know what more I have to say on this. I guess it's just a revelation I had about something in gaming that bothers me..

So, wider gaming community. What do you think? Am I onto something or is this all crazy talk?

I played a little of it when I first got it, but then I heard that it's better to patch it. So I joined the discord for it and figured I'd look into that later. Well later turned into years, eventually I left the discord server to make space for other servers and never did wind up going back to Arcanum.

Now I'm really getting into Fallout thanks to the show, and I've heard many people say that if I like Fallout to try Arcanum.

So I tried to get back into the Discord, however I found I've been banned. Which is odd, it's not like I got into a bad situation with an admin or anything. I pretty much never interacted with anyone. So I can only assume they saw that I was there for so long and assumed I was a bot (Or maybe someone got a DM from me back when my account was hacked), and I can't get a hold of anyone to get back in.

I've heard that if I want to enjoy the game to find the multiverse edition, but apparently that's hosted on the Discord I can't get into.

Is it worth trying to track down an alternative means of playing that patch? And is the game really as good as they say?

Thanks in advance.

Yours Truly, Queen HawlSera

I only knew Us for a tutorial I kept reloading until I was sure what was up with the brain, but if anything ever happened to him (I'm guessing he's a he?) I would kill everyone in the Forgotten Realms, and then myself.

I recently played through Bondee's Barnyard, and I plan to play Jr.'s sometime soonish

I bought Mega Man X Dive Offline, really hyped for it, but then when I double checked my VPN, I realized it was set for the Netherlands.... Not good, I thought I had it set for the US as per usual.

Now it still showed the price in USD, but now I'm paranoid, I put in a refund explaining the situation and promising I'd buy it with the VPN turned off this time..

How fucked am I?

Recently got a VPN because I've become increasingly paranoid (It's getting crazy out there), but.... is it a bannable offense to use it while on Steam?

I'm finding mixed answers, and I wanna be safe, so I figured the Fediverse might know.

So here is the issue, I use Google Drive because I am a writer who does a lot of writing. And I thought the cloud was a reliable way to store my writing, however now Google is looking through it's to train their ai. And I'm worried about that, especially since I have written a lot of questionable content, porn and the like. What if Google Now arbitrarily decides that I'm not using Google Drive properly and bans me from the Google, that's not good. What should I do and what alternatives can I use? Will these Alternatives still be around in like 10 years?

So recently-ish Youtube purged all the EGS and Randy Stair related content. I had some and got a Community Strike for "Supporting a violent organization"

Just a warning and I don't really use YouTube to upload things anyway.

So uhh, is there a new place to host this stuff?

Because, I feel like it's important to keep that guy's descent into madness documented. Not because I support anything he did, but because well...

He's a good cautionary tale

I don't know when or why that happened, but it did

Previously I watched it on Crackle, but, it's not on there anymore.

I know it's not specifically Adult Swim related, but it was a kid-friendly off-shoot of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, so it's tangentially related.

If you haven't heard of it, it was a block in 1997 when Cartoon Network was just starting out that wasl as I said before, a kid-friendly version of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. Instead of having special guests to interview, you'd mostly just have Space Ghost, Brak, and Zorak standing around talking to each other. Sometimes you would have clips of cartoons or some live action footage they filmed of a guy in a Space Ghost costume to sort of interrupt things and keep things flowing.

It was mostly a flimsy excuse to try to pretend Cartoon Network had original content (At the time it was mostly Hanna Barbara reruns), and extremely low budget (Something they make fun of themselves for)

All the episodes are archived one YouTube

I just wanted to bring this to the attention of those who hadn't heard of it, and invite those who have seen it, whether as a kid or through youtube uploads, to discuss there opinion of it.
