Another reminder, altough this was expected, of why we have to buy European (not only from the EU tough, also from neighbouring countries and from the EEC): Trump says that will impose a 25% tariff on imports from the EU, apart from saying that the region was created to screw USA.

He has also said that tariffs to Canada and Mexico will go into effect on the 4th of April. So I am open too to buy goods and services from there (we have their communities promoting local buying because of this nasty movement linked in the right side of the community, if you are interested).

There will be countermovement, but it is important to start buying more european products and services to counter this.

Somehow Agent Krasnov proves once again how fucking useful an idiot can be to russia.

US isolationism is the plan, hurt the citizenry economically, join russia in open war against its old allies before his third term. Using wartime to extend his regency and power.

Very good points you have set here, isolation to say the world is against them and ally with Russia. Oh boy these people are so annoying!

[โ€“] starlinguk@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

More, like, terrifying.

the region was created to screw USA.

Shit, maybe we should!

They don't need any assistance for that. Not the tiniest bit.

Wasn't it created to screw the USSR?

[โ€“] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 7 points 1 month ago

It was to make sure Europe doesn't blow up again.

No it was created as the Coal and Steel Community after WW2 to prevent another war on the continent and to increase economic cooperation.

Also to deprive them of currency sovereignity and tie them to the US dollar market, and also to weaken socialist parties in Europe.

Trump doesn't want to mess with EU it's 450 million people. USA needs EU as a market to sell their goods. This is just Mercantilism at this point...

Never mind their good, it is their services that we got get off. Google, Facebook, Microsoft, etc. Apple is both goods and services. For years digital rights people have been shouting about US tech monopolies, but now.....

Think about, what of DNS, name registration, IP address blocks, MAC address blocks? The controlling "international" bodies are all American.

[โ€“] Argyle13@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

They would want to negotiate something and use this as a threat..maybe it is all related to the big tech companies not wanting to comply with the European regulation, and things like that

I would like to request you guys make a charter update for EU's mission to add "fucking over Donald Trump whenever possible" because we are failing at it so badly
