Anecdotal evidence, but people I know that buy these kinds of monstrosities only look at/care about the monthly lease payments
I've seen a lot of trailer homes (stationary ones that can't be towed) with vehicles that cost several times what the house likely cost.
0% no cash down loans will help those who want this car. Oh wait you have bad credit. 39% and the traid in of your current car. We can roll the negative equity into the loan. Spread this out of 150 months and the repayment should be manageable if you take up a second job.

Automotive journalism is a cesspit of seething coke-pithed misogynists who are so pissed off that it’s not the 80s anymore, they can’t stand it.
Not sure about the coke and misogyny but it's definitely full of manboys who think "fast=cool". Even the beloved Top Gear was full of masturbating to supercars.
There was an accident were a Polish automotive journalist crashed a Ferrari he was test driving. He was going something like 200km/h in a city, lost control and hit a concrete column. The passenger died*. The media was full of people praising automotive journalists for a couple of days with idiot comments like "it's such a dangerous job. imagine you're test driving a supercar on a mountain road. how can you resist going fast?". For fuck's sake...
*The driver had a serious brain damage (as a result of the accident, not sure about before it) and spend some time in a coma. When he woke up he become sort of a celebrity. Never went to prison or anything.
People stopped telling me about how big/fast/powerful their cars are, because I'd point out , like an asshole, that they don't tow anything, need to carry heavy loads, take it to the racetrack or really need anything like that and a smaller car would make a lot more sense for ther lifestyle.
They're pretty shit at hauling loads. Awful beds and low tonnage compared to other options. American pickups are what you get if you don't know what you're doing. They're definitely showbag vehicles.

It's towing their ego and the public roads are their racetrack.
On a sidenote, ashole-ing your way to inner peace sounds like a philosophy I can get behind.

I tend to silently judge people who attach speed or size to there personality. And buying a car to make you feel like a bigger person is the greatest waste of resources.

Tbh, this is a TRX. They are built with performance in mind first so they handle insanely good for what they are. This is a racing truck.
