To be fair, the stock prices are the biggest casualty for them.

To paraphrase a famous draft dodger
They're not war heroes. They were a war heroes because they was killed. I like people who weren't killed.
Iranians are dying for their country, Americans are dying for their bankers.
Our country is run by bankers. There is no stretch of the imagination in which someone who works for us would vote to bail out the banks and not bail out the people.
I mean, a very similar story was told when George W. Bush was in office. Someone had some oil that needed some American Freedom.... I mean, WMDs! They had WMDs...
Wait. It's below 50k?

why are you laughing?!
There's like 2 groups in this country that are generally treated as sacred: "Little white GURHLS" and soldiers.
Literally not that hard to fuck it up. Is it a little white girl that died or disappeared? Then treat it like the baby Jesus literally just got run over by a truck in front of your face. Did a soldier just die in war? Then also treat it like the baby Jesus literally just got run over by a truck in front of your face.
This is clearly a violation of the "treat it like the baby Jesus literally just got run over by a truck in front of your face" criteria but obviously we know that the media is focused on preserving power for the ownership class over the working class, so not terribly surprising.
A correction, dead soldiers are only sacred for about 30 seconds of the broadcast, after that it's the "idea" of soldiers and not the messy reality. Always phased as "our brave men and women".
Anything more than that and people might start questioning why those soldiers were there in the first place.
And children are only sacred until they're born.
“The troops” is a nebulous idea you always wholeheartedly support, but any particular vet who goes to the VA becomes a drain on the system to be discarded asap.
Our soldiers are only sacred until they need healthcare or protest something, then fuck 'em.
I mean, the number of violent childhoods (physical violence, but also psychological and of course the poverty, hunger, the stress of those situations, the neglect, etc.) in your country, plus the pederasty and pedophilia club running the government and corporations make me think children (in the second case it's mainly 'little girls') are not that important either in current years. Yes, we make fun of the "think of the children!" discourse in the U.S., but those are just words. At least from the distance, I don't think you're protecting children enough (and the same is true for a lot of countries, but that's beyond the point).
His name is Maj. Jeffrey O'Brien
Clearly his name is Dow Jones.
DOW isn't even at 50k either. Perfect storm
May they rest in 46,495
His name must be Mike Wazowski. Seriously though its not like anyone up there cares about anyone down here.
Looks like his name is Dow Jones to me.
TBF most people and politicians can’t name the dead no matter the war.
I got my Combat Infantry Badge in the spring of 2002, my division commander was there, HRC was there, neither could name any of us let alone the casualties.
Slaughterers at abbatoirs don't name and get to know their meat before the slaughter.
Truly dystopic, Jesus christ
Welcome to conservative America.
Who knew giving a group of people with a notably low IQ and an absence of morality power would lead to what we're seeing?
The us GOVERNMENT. The us is the rest of us who disagree with that GOVERNMENT.
Thank god you disagree. Otherwise they would bomb schools and terrorize the whole world.
Unfortunately a majority of Americans voted for this. The "rest of us" is actually a minority group. Maybe we are the majority now with this war, but a little over a year ago we were not.
The majority absolutely did not vote for this. Not only did a massive chunk of the population not even vote, but among those who did vote, Trump got less than 50% of those votes
chunk of the population not even vote
This is also a choice. And in 2024 it was absolutely obvious that it's a choice for Trump.
Majority, supermajority even, either wanted Trump to be an absolute leader, or was OK with it.
The left: war is bad, because it hurts people. The right: we died enough for foreign issues. The rulling parties: did you say...more war?
That really makes the rest of us in the world happy to hear that the country bombing everyone and trying to intimidate allies is full of citizens who are utterly fucking useless.
Ya’ll would do well to remember that, unless you actually do something, we don’t give a shit about how upset you are. You are a citizen of the US and I have some sympathy for that but when try to deflect like this that sympathy quickly evaporates. It reads loud and clear like you care more for your personal reputation than anything else.
Well, we do murder and assault each other at rates about 5x that of our European allies, and our cops kill us sometimes 20x the rate of our allies. We don’t just export violence, we have a thriving domestic trade in it as well. And it’s becoming increasingly politically motivated. My neighborhood has a squad of paramilitary Proud Boy wannabes that goes jogging every morning in their tactical gear and ARs. They’re not cops, not military, not ICE, just dudes drilling for the war. While the left didn’t ever not own guns, it’s surging. We’ve got LGBTQ gun groups, women only gun groups, socialist gun groups, and mutual aid networks on both sides kicking into high gear for the hunker down. I get that it’s frustrating to watch American leadership sow chaos globally, but internally our fight isn’t just with them, it’s with every one of our neighbors that supports it. Remove Trump and they’ll just move on to the next strong man. It’s the legacy of letting the Confederacy stew in its loss generation after generation and failure to prevent them from seeking power. There’s still a sliver of hope we can vote our way out of this when elections come, though I doubt that will work. It’ll be interesting to see what goes down when that fails and the regime declares itself dictator for life. You’ll either see the US decline into Russian style authoritarianism or a bloody shitshow as the most heavily armed populace in world history revenges itself on itself.
meanwhile in Ukraine - media mostly focuses on specific people KIA in retrospect and army divisions produce commemorative documentaries to celebrate fallen comrades. And this stuff is heartbreaking to watch
Better luck next time!
