Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

FORMER MINNESOTA STATE Sen. Matt Little was lawfully observing federal immigration agents in a Dakota County neighborhood last month when the drive took an unexpected turn.

As he followed their vehicles, they led him down a rural road that grew increasingly familiar during the 20-minute drive. Soon, Little told The Intercept, he realized where the federal agents were headed: his house.

When he approached his driveway, two SUVs were already waiting, Little said. Agents moved to block his car, claiming he had impeded their investigation and that local law enforcement would be called. No other officers came to his house, and Little was not cited or charged.

Interviews, sworn declarations, and video reviewed by The Intercept indicate that Little is not the only person subjected to this kind of intimidation. Across the Twin Cities, immigration agents have identified legal observers by name and address, and, in some cases, led them back to their homes after they engaged in lawful monitoring of immigration activity. Legal observers say this pattern of behavior sends a clear and chilling message: The federal government knows who they are and where they live.

They know where you live. They know where you work. They know who all your family and friends are. They know your social security number. They know your bank account numbers. They know your medical records. They know your menstrual cycles. They know your online aliases. They know your voting history. They know your online activity.

But they NEED to build more data centers so AI can more effectively identify and target you.

Harrassment can go both ways.

Browse. See if you find anyone you recognize. Then expose them to their friends, family, and community.

A similar thing happened to an observer I know in NW Washington the other day too. They realized where ICE was going and bailed, but ICE waited outside their house for hours before giving up.

Matt Little is from my home town and was my mayor for a long time. He was good. I like him. Good for him.

Start showing up at their homes, see how they like it. Fascists still have names and addresses -- getting them might not be as easy as it is for them to get yours, but if they think nobody will ever come knocking I can't wait for someone to prove them wrong.

Yeah, I know about it, I'm just saying it's not as easy because someone has to do the legwork of adding them to the wiki.

Take a moment to read this article. There's an account in the 2nd half that was absolutely chilling. Guy was full-on chased for being an observer and narrowly escaped what looked like it could have been a brutal or even fatal encounter after being boxed in by SUVs full of masked agents. I'm not sure what the solution is going to be here

The issue is that we've been looking at these people as misguided idiots rather than the thugs that ICE/CBP always were. They're acting exactly as we should expect, except now they've got an admin backing them to the hilt on literally anything and everything they do.

When you have a structure that's been BUILT out of rotted wood, you can't just replace the most obvious rot and call it good.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Wait, what?

This isn't "what they always were". There were problems before, absolutely. But now they've hired explicitly and intentionally from Nazi gangs.

Your analogy implies they were trying to fix things. They were trying to break them.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

You're right, but I don't think that's what they were saying.

I think they're talking about the people themselves. These people have always been violent, awful, racist people, and have only just now started to feel empowered to commit the violence they've been clamoring for.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Even then, there wasn't perfect overlap between the racist border patrol guys and the literal nazi gangs. Now there is.

Anyone working for this administration deserves to be thrown into a fucking volcano.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

I'll take a trial and swift execution via firing squad.

Think of the volcanoes. 🥲

Launched into the sun is my preference for them. Turn it into a reality tv show as they slowly accellerate into the sun.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 hours ago

Launched from a mountain top from a large trebuchet would work too.
