What is the point in building teeny tiny homes if they're going to be placed six feet apart and have no private space. The whole point of a small compact house is it leaves space over for communal stuff. This feels like an American visited Europe and completely failed grasp the point.

You know, we could make them even cheaper by cramming them so close they share walls and then stacking them on top of each other. And because they're all together, we can call them apartments.

If that is so, what is the point of all that unusable wasted space around thise buildings, other than law requiring it for some randomreasons?
Without that, those buildings could either have high quality outside space that could be used for gardening or a terrace or the area could be reduced.
The point is for the developer to capitalize on the hype and fomo. Yes, most likely just enough space to meet property setbacks and utility easement requirements.
They squeeze the most "houses" in the lot as they can.
If they are in Texas then it's 43C outside and 95% humidity, so you don't go outside for anything if you don't have to.
Also these are just apartments that are actually apart. So, basically just really inefficient apartments.

The hell do you need a lifted F-250 for?! You're not hauling anything, you're not towing anything, and that lift kit just ruined whatever practical use the truck had in the first place.
So you've got a 6,000-pound grocery-getting overcompensation machine that's somehow less useful than the truck was before you modified it.

People who buy these trucks are not generally paying cash. After taxes and loan interest, that $70K overcompensation machine is easily over $100K, more than the tiny home.
You know when I feel the most manly? When I successfully load my Kia Soul EV with groceries from Costco AND manage to get all four of my kids in there as well. A big pick-up truck is just cheating.

They're not dissimilar in design from the tiny houses designed by Jay Shafer which were technically campers, built on car hauler trailers towable by pickup.
People love them??!!! WTF! When I was a kid in rural South America we would pitty people who's house was not solid brick and had side walk. "Hay pobrecitos".
That frame of mind as my "shades" that I see the world thru tell me that this is wrong. Micro houses should be for anyone who really truly wants one... For people in the middle of nowhere that need some sleep tonight. For the homeless who lost a job or got an expensive disease. ETC. Not for regular people in the city with good jobs.
Yeah, but it's better than being unable to own a house for a lot of people. It's absolutely not for me, I'm far more inclined towards a townhouse if possible, but I'm an engineer who wants to live in a more urban area.
Houses have gotten ludicrously expensive compared to what people can afford in America. This is partly because housing is seen as an investment and so any policy that reduces housing cost will take a good chunk out of the wealth of a large portion of the population.
But yeah the talks of extending home loans past 30 years is just egregious
Housing as an investment is a problem. But so is having kids. Each kid needs a house until we die. So at least one extra house. When we die they get the other but then they'll have the same problem... Kids.. And where to house them.
I saw these on YouTube shorts. They are insanely expensive. Maybe not for that area, but I ny small town of 400k in the Midwest it's more than or equal to a full size house morgage.
I saw something similar on youtube about japanese inspired micro-apartments to create affordable living for the masses... the rent was like 1800-2500. Which is not affordable anything for anyone but the top 1%, who'd never lower themselves to living in 50 square feet.
Young ppl love that they get any home at all. It's nobody's preference.
