AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
I'd love to see Anthropic take a beating but these lawsuits are more about killing open sources initiatives, so everything has to move to a subscription based model where record companies get a fat piece.
They are doing it with Suno and already did it with Udio. Artists don't get anything of course, it's more about who gets to own the model, who gets to gatekeep the creation outright of futur models and not about who actually created the data.
Society has created enough bullshit for us that we have to disentangle some of these issues.
Fuck the record companies, for sure. But fuck the generative AI companies even harder. If I ignore the treasure trove of things that have said on the internet over the decades that they've slurped up, I still know that all of my published academic works and all of my open source work is being stolen by these fuckers just to regurgitate poorly later.
If the general public can access my publications easily, which is its own sort of travesty, and these idiots should not be able to violate the copyrights that also bind me.
