In a set of fascistic speeches on Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House power broker Stephen Miller, and other top Trump administration officials labelled the political left as a “terrorist” threat and vowed to use all of the tools at their disposal to systematically destroy left-wing groups. Representatives from 67 countries gathered in the U.S. on Thursday for a meeting…

I am so sick of this pen-faced alien being given a mic.

The latest episode of This American Life is about this. It's really fucking scary those protestors got 30 years for moving boxes while the capitol protestors got a slap on the wrist and a presidential pardon.

[–] MithranArkanere@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

This individual is proof that evil is not something subjective but actual physical matter that has condensed into the likes of him. Like the black goo that made Aku in Samurai Jack.

[–] BeUnique@lemmy.zip 11 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Well, unfortunately for him if you go far left enough, you get your guns back... Just saying....

[–] Art3mis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Unfortunately.for us, in a fascist dictatorship that is as well armed as our, it is incredibly unlikely for a local revolution to succeed. Its almost always external forces that allow a regime of this caliber to be toppled.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

External forces are already working on that. We still have a responsibility to resist. They do this because they believe they can afford the consequences.

Make it expensive for them.

[–] Art3mis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 hours ago

If you think im suggesting it is futile and to roll over, you have wildly misunderstood.

[–] MasterBlaster@lemmy.world 33 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Nazis traditionally labeled people on the opposite end of their political spectrum the enemy and it's not long before they are disappeared on a consistent basis.

I wonder if the people who are in the place to act are going to be able to stop the next Kristallnacht before it happens.

They already got the concentration camps in place.

[–] RidderSport@feddit.org 2 points 16 hours ago

Please use the term Progromnacht. Kristallnacht is how the Nazis named it and is highly euphimistic.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 17 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

Americans will listen to this and then just drive to their shitty jobs they hate like everything is normal. They don't fucking care.

[–] jerk_splerkin@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

It’s not that I don’t care. I just need to exhaust all alternatives before I simply accept that my family likely dying is the only option.

[–] MyVeryRealName@lemmy.world -4 points 7 hours ago

Americans wouldn't mind if leftists are "rooted out".

[–] Zink@programming.dev 12 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

That's basically the average the country is left with between the decent people and the tens of millions who voted for idiotic racist rapist fascism three times in a row.

It's like a third don't care, a third do care, and a third are enthusiastically in favor.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 4 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

A third “do care” as long as “caring” requires literally no real effort, risk, or sacrifice on their part. They care performatively, which is as good as not caring at all.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

It's really fucking easy to be a tough guy on the Internet. Congratulations.

Edit: lol the meme generator's US flag drop-in only has 49 stars

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missouruh.

Alternatively, the meme generator is from between July 4, 1959 and July 3, 1960.

[–] mriormro@lemmy.zip -1 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Quit your bitching and state how you’re helping. You keyboard warriors are fucking annoying, man.

[–] hamid@crazypeople.online -1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

US Americans, especially white US Americans, are incapable of doing anything because a violent revolution of their state is against their material interests and they know it. This is why settler US Americans are not part of the global proletariat. For the global proletariat violent revolution is a either a side step in material reality or a benefit but the settler US Americans, like Israelis, benefit materially from their state via subsidy and sharing in the global extraction from the empire.

[–] binux@sh.itjust.works -1 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

You don't even know if he's American or not.

And even if he is, what difference does it make? You're in a Lemmy comment section. People are going to write what they're thinking. Even if they don't, this sort of thing will still be in their heads. Which you can't even blame anyone for considering how impotent the masses are in the US. Thoughts like these are perfectly understandable regardless of who it's coming from.

[–] Areldyb@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I am American, I was making fun of the keyboard warrior I replied to, and Poe's Law is way too fucking strong in this space. 🙄

[–] binux@sh.itjust.works 0 points 6 hours ago

Yes, my point was more that you being or not being American is irrelevant in this context, considering the USA's status as the global hegemond (thereby causing everyone to have a stake in it regardless). My thoughts still stand.

[–] mriormro@lemmy.zip 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

No, they’re not “understandable”.

people are going to write what they’re thinking

And I’ll keep telling them how much of a useless fuck they are when, they too, aren’t putting their fucking necks out on the line to stem this.

[–] binux@sh.itjust.works -1 points 8 hours ago

Do you care to explain exactly why it's not understandable?

In any case, you're getting angry at the wrong people. This is counter-productive.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago (3 children)

"Fascistic" means like fascism. This isn't like fascism, it is fascism.

[–] binux@sh.itjust.works 0 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

Not necessarily. It can describe both fascism in action as well as things similar to it. This is the Merriam-Webster entry:

: advocating for or working to further the aims of fascism : fascist

a fascistic organization

Going 7,000 miles across the globe, toppling two fascistic governments and establishing democracies in their places … is, by historical standards, an unprecedented military achievement.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

You know what?

I know in history class, they said some people ignored Hitler’s rise to power — believing he wouldn’t get very far.

Americans thought that of Trump in 2016. Trump thought that of Trump in 2016.

I’m at a point now where, if you’re spewing fascist shit, you’re a threat. I see you as an immediate threat, because the problem is that we haven’t been taking people like you seriously.

Don’t get fooled a third time.

I think a lot of people assume we have to be at full blown Nazi genocide before "fascism" or "fascist" can be reasonably used.

Nope.

It's fascism now. Already. Currently happening. Here in America. Now.

We just haven't reached the apex....yet.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

These loser fascists are so devoid of talent that it appears they're just scraping the internet for what we say about them then turning it around to fit their narrative.

We've been calling conservatism a cancer for YEARS and he's just using our own words as theirs.

As always, conservatives/regressives have no talent or creativity. They can only steal what others create or simply destroy.

If this nation actually brings justice back we'll see this fascist on the chopping block.

[–] raspirate@lemmy.world 8 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

All the "best" conservative arguments are just repurposed left-wing arguments that someone ran ctrl+f and replaced each identifying term with it's counterpart.

The infuriating part is that the reason it works is because left-wing arguments are fundamentally structured better and are more compelling. At some point in the past, a lefty made that argument to the right-winger and they could feel that they were losing the argument, so they quietly adopted the aesthetic of the same argument and later deployed it like they came up with it themselves.

It's why every right-wing argument has to construct a fiction where their enemy already holds all the power and has been in control for decades. Everyone can intuitively feel that they're being scammed by an unfair system that's rigged for the benefit of the wealthy. All right-wingers have to do is convince people that the structure of society can't be blamed on the people with the power to shape it. They just need people to blame someone they've already been convinced to hate. Immigrants, minorities, queers, and anyone else who would tell them who their actual enemies are.

What confuses me about this administration is that they seem to be aiming to make any political belief or action that does not support them worthy of a lengthy prison sentence.

... but [REDACTED] is also a lengthy prison sentence. So they've removed the incentive to not [REDACTED].

In other words... why design a system where your opponents have nothing to lose? They will be pushed towards acting like they have nothing to lose.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because they want an excuse to implement martial law that their base will accept. An "enemy within" that turns violent is exactly the pretense they're stoking for this, even if it's obvious they invented everything that caused it.

[–] HCSOThrowaway@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (6 children)

I see this sentiment a little more frequently than I see the following that I'll paraphrase:

"They're doing this to egg on a response [so we should not give them what they want by pushing back]" is an accidental or intentional PsyOp campaign.

If your opponent threatens to fight you if you fight back, you would choose to surrender before the fight begins?

It's an incredibly effective PsyOp when arguably the largest downside of anti-MAGA people is their rampant apathy, and that sentiment is like gasoline to a fire. "Oh, the enlightened response is to stay home like I did in 2024? Sick."

Herr Müller the Nazi troll was once cursed by a wizard for being too evil.

Let's emphasize the fact that he is not saying people who march around carrying rifles and machine guns intimidating Americans in their hometowns. Nor is he talking about people who commit mass shootings. Or people who pollute the air, water, and soil that we need to survive. No, it is people with left wing and liberal ideology, people using their freedom of speech.

Fucking evil. I hate everybody who voted for this and everybody who didn't bother to vote.

every attack is a confession

[–] nanometer1625@thelemmy.club 21 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This wasn't just Stephen Miller as this article makes it sound. The conference was convened by Marco Rubio, and he also used fascist rhetoric.

He called leftists “an encroaching darkness” and “the enemies of civilization”.

Rubio also called the left terrorists:

Rubio also attempted to link disparate groups together. “Iranian proxy networks”, he said, “are increasingly intimately tied to leftist militant groups around the world”. “We have no choice but to confront this menace together. We will either cooperate across our borders, or the terrorists will continue to exploit the gaps between them."

This is from another article on the conference, from The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/16/political-violence-event-trump-marco-rubio

Between this and Trump's recent claims that the USA doesn't have the ability to secure its elections against Chinese interference, the regime seems to be making a case for cancelling the midterm elections and possibly arresting Democratic "terrorists".

Our legal systems don’t work. Our jury trials don’t work

Oh boy.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

100% fascist projection.

[–] kevinsky@feddit.nl 46 points 1 day ago (13 children)

I don't know what I hate more, that these pricks with fingers feel validated enough to be openly stating this kind of shit, or that there is nobody that is in earshot this verbal diarrhea that puts him on the spot over it. Especially in the broader republican side at large. Just letting this happen because it's "your guy" is some weak shit.
