Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

In a set of fascistic speeches on Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House power broker Stephen Miller, and other top Trump administration officials labelled the political left as a “terrorist” threat and vowed to use all of the tools at their disposal to systematically destroy left-wing groups. Representatives from 67 countries gathered in the U.S. on Thursday for a meeting…

Has the US forgotten already that Hitler looked at the US race laws with admiration in Mein Kampf?

This isn't new. This cancer has never been excised, just bandaged over because it became inconvenient to capitalist interests at the time.

As far as I can see, this shift back towards fascism in the US is the response to the rise of China as an economic and military power.

Some of this rise is attributable to the decline of favour of fossil fuels, and China's position as market leader in solar and wind generation technology. This is why Trump has a hate for renewable energy, and such a throbbing micro-peen for oil. The US is being left behind, fast.

Forgotten? Most schools here probably don't even teach that. I would bet that most Americans are not at all aware of this fact.

Many Americans probably think they liberated the entirety of Europe during WW2 with a little help from the British and Canadians.

[Nervous laughter remembering my history class textbooks...and the History Channel specials...and appreciating how games like Medal of Honor and Call of Duty showcased many other countries' contributions to the effort I was never even aware of]

Heh. Heh? :3 lol

I remember really liking, I think it was Call of Duty 4 (?) as a kid because the main character was a Soviet soldier, and it was such a fresh perspective for that kind of game.

Are we thinking of World at War maybe? The one where you were a sniper stealthily sneaking through the Red Square with a Mosin Nagant?

That game was amazing. Along with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, I've played it through multiple times.

MoH:AA also featured a brief stint as the Soviets, too.

Both also made sure we knew the PPSH "pe-peh-sheh" is one of the coolest SMGs ever made. :D

I remember Call of Duty 3 on the Wii had a section where you played as a Polish tank crew!

Yeah I think it was World at War. MoH games were cool too, but back then before online, CoD single player games were so much more cinematic

I didn't know about this until I read it on lemmy a few months ago. And I grew up in deep blue.
