This is the equivalent of an NFL Linebacker trying to tackle a kindergartener, missing completely, hurting himself, and buying the kindergartner a Maserati.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 28 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

(The player also hurt the whole NFL team, doubled their debt, collapsed it's economic, some geopolitical alliances, it's petrodollar, etc - and that's just in relation to this one thing/war with the kindergartner.)

[–] Spooge@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I'm not sure you know what an analogy is.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 29 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ugh! Yes I do! It's like a eulogy but for your butt!

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 11 points 2 weeks ago

Not to be confused with, or followed by, oralogy.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

You have analogy, sure, but what about extended analogy?
One can always build an analogy up until it collapses just for the fun of it!

A deal as professional as it's maker.

I hope he will get reminded every day that he fucked this up completely and made a deal far worse than Obama got - without causing a war, too.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 39 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

You overestimate his ability to accept responsibility.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I know that this ability is zero.

[–] TRBoom@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago

He's gonna flat out say that it was obama/biden that made this deal. 100% chance of that.

[–] Airfried@piefed.social 35 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

This whole circus still made the Trump family richer with insider trading so it's a win for them. They don't care if the USA burns to the ground.

[–] masterclass@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Because nominal wealth relative to natural capital is true wealth /s. Fuck the world!!

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Which gives us our path to punishment for their crimes. The money was all they cared about, so we'll be removing that from their lives. They won't be needing it in prison. Or in Hell, if that's where they end up after the trials.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Oh you sweet summer child, the US is designed so that the oligarchs never face consequences for their actions. Think of what would happen to the share holders!

Vance has a look and stance of absolute defeat.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Serves him right. He has no morals. No class. No ethics. He spent a full election season saying he was a "Never trump guy". So when trump called him up and said "You wanna be VP?" the respectable thing would have been to say "Yes, but not with you. I'm a never trump guy".

He didn't do that. He said "YES SIR!!! WHERE ON YOUR ASS WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO KISS, SIR???"

And this is where he is today.

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They'll 25th Trump's ass as soon as it doesn't count as a presidential term for vance, if he pulls the trigger now, this will count as a full term and in his (and peter thiels) mind he thinks he'll win two full terms after Trump's done

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, fully expect to see that February 2027 suddenly they decide Trump isn't fit for office.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Vance was a big Project 2025 guy, any presidential candidate would do, so long as they could win. As soon as Trump was the only possible path to make it happen, Vance was there for it.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago

So when trump called him up and said "You wanna be VP?" the respectable thing would have been to say "Yes, but not with you. I'm a never trump guy".

I disagree with this. The respectable thing would be to say yes, but also that you're not just going to be a yes-man. Take the role and push the administration in the right direction. Trump wouldn't accept this, so that would never happen, but it would be the best thing to do, but effectively it'd be saying no.

I guess an alternative is to say yes, wait until you're locked in, and then do the right thing and push back. I don't think there's any mechanism, besides impeachment or murder, to change the VP after the election. Get your foot in the door, and then shove the door open. Vance doesn't have the balls for this though, if he even actually disagrees with him. Him being anti-Trump was probably just a political move.

[–] prole@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

I honestly wish he would do the world s favor and just kill himself.

[–] eatCasserole@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

It's actually kind of a hilarious picture, now that I've zoomed in.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 25 points 2 weeks ago

Keep in mind: the vast majority of this is reparations for bombing the shit out of the place, including the water supply (war crimes) and power generation (war crimes).

It's not paying; it's paying back.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 23 points 2 weeks ago

Can we just take it all from Elon? I hear he just came into a bunch of money, and from the sounds of it, he had a big hand in this presidency happening.

[–] BenLeMan@lemmy.world 23 points 2 weeks ago

Remember, this is in addition to the billions of taxpayer dollars given to Lockheed, Raytheon, Boeing, General Dynamics, etc. to fund the killing of schoolgirls on the other side of the globe.

Aren't you glad that money wasn't squandered on something frivolous like healthcare instead?

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 14 points 2 weeks ago

This is what happens when dumb and dumber are in charge.

*tRUMP-Epstein war.

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

id wait for the actual text to come out. reuter's claims otherwise.

[–] Zirconium@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Dont know what's with these posts without any sources. Even if its to a twitter or truth social, i want to know the source of the information, not a fucking photo

[–] frank@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The war was a huge success for Trump though. It distracted from his Epstein Files and he made some insider trades so he got richer. Win/win!

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Did it distract from the Epstein Files? You just said it, and so did I. Not forgotten at all.

They are dumb ostriches who have buried their heads in the sand. They think that just because THEY have distracted THEMSELVES from the Trump-Epstein Files, we are, too, but we're not. We're all still talking about how Trump rapes children.

[–] prole@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's almost as if they don't even need to distract from the Epstein files, and the myopic people who think everything is a distraction from the Epstein files are wasting everyone's time.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago

Have you heard that Trump rapes children? It's in the Epstein Files. Spread the word.

We can play that game, too.

[–] NewSocialWhoDis@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Remember when Obama got the release of hostages from Iran for a measley $1.7 billion that we already owed them? And remember how Republicans lost their goddamn minds? This millennial remembers.

[–] adhdsergio@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think everybody knows he operates under a Trump First agenda

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I should start a war with America

EDIT: Wait, did I just say that out loud?

EDIT 2: I mean... look... easy money, right?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That's the plot of The Mouse That Roared. Some small country declares war, so they can lose and get the big country to rebuild their entire nation.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I could have sworn I saw that some small island nation basically goaded a bigger power to dispatch some nominal military force just so they could immediately surrender and be "conquered", much to the surprise of the military folks that were expecting hostility.

But I cannot find any reference, so either some video made it up and I fell for it, or I just can't find it.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 2 points 2 weeks ago

"We really got torn a new asshole here but the way we're going to spin it is to just say that it's a really great outcome."

[–] wildcardology@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

How about America NEVER!

[–] godsammitdam@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is the jaw dropping sum including deporting the Trump family and the administration and the republican party and establishment democrats to Iran?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Right, like they want him.
