Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

I really hope the message is slowly getting through that having ICE or Border Patrol on your resume from 2025 onwards is a way to guarantee you'll never be hired at most places. If there's even a gap in your resume and you look like a thumb, people will assume that you were working at ICE and trying to avoid admitting it.
If you were stupid enough to take the job and want out, the only way is to become a whistleblower.
Or it'll fast-track your career to being a cop
I'm pretty sure that anybody who could actually become a cop would have become a cop instead of an ICE agent. ICE agents are like prison guards, they're people who don't have what it takes to be a cop. I don't think experience as an ICE agent is going to help them become cops, just like there's no prison guard to cop pipeline.
This is the Lemmy bubble talking. In reality, the vast majority of people don't give a shit.
Also, companies with the most paying power have ICE on their resume.
Pretty sure ICE agents see it as they get to shoot rubber bullets and throw tear gas at people protesting racism. They aren't being forced to do it, they're being given permission.
All cops, dear
every time I say "abolish the police in all 50 states" I get ratio'd into obscurity
On .world, sure. There are probably bots there for that, if not all the users being turbolibs. this is a db0 community.
To clarify:
Skull fucking billionaires:
Necessary for the revolution, or gratuitously violent waste of time and waste of a good strap-on?
Are the bullets that killed those people made of rubber?
ICE in particular has people in the field that aren't getting paid.. they're volunteering because they want to hurt people without consequences
Why can't ICE and OIL have a TDM and leave others alone?
So would I but you have to remember these are the kind of people who think, man if I had to stock shelves, I'd quit and get a job where I get to shoot people. And the more they shoot and hang around all the other overly testosteroned thugs, the more they enjoy the cruelty. If we had none of these guys we'd have no war.
This take makes the mistake of assuming anyone working this job is miserable about it. They LOVE to push people around to enforce how right they are about their racist ideas, and fuck everyone else for daring to question their overtly tribal amygdala, you must be one of the bad ones, and the bad ones growing number like a woke mind virus.
But that’s not how it goes. That’s just the summary, and most anyone would balk at it being put like that. Just like most of Nazi Germany would’ve balked at gassing 6mil Jews if that’s what Hitler would’ve ran his campaign on.
First they say, “Ok boys, today we’re on crowd control. It’s going to be a little crazy out there today because of the officer involved shooting but we’re just going to try and keep it professional and hope for the best.”
Of course that’s coded to hell and passive voice for “the people are agitated and we gotta show force” but there’s a reason they don’t say it like that. It’s too direct. It might cause the more liberal minded to ask uncomfortable questions where everyone else can hear, and start to doubt the mission too.
Then they’re out there. Shoulder to shoulder. Dressed the same, on the same team, with all the (justifiable) anger of a mob directed right at them. Tribalism kicks in and it’s off to the escalation races. By the time they get to the tear gas stage they’re practically congratulating each other that they haven’t shot anyone else today.
Then you didn't take the job so you could legally hurt and kill people.
They got $50,000 signing checks.
But if they quit before 5 years, they owe $10,000 for each year.
How many of them blew the $50k on a truck, or paid their CC bills with it the first week?
Now they’re stuck there.
They aren't even getting paid right now, several of them complained about not getting their salary in the ICE private subreddit. And if a new administration comes in and fires them, they're on the hook for 30k and cannot declare bankruptcy to escape from the debt.
None of them got $50k, though. It's a structured bonus program. They don't get the full amount until after they hit several milestones.
I heard some of those bonuses didn't even get to the employees.
went straight to the dealership
People who get these jobs, hope that that day will come where they can shoot and torture anyone really, civilians or not. They don't care. They are sick fucks without feelings or thoughts.
They do have feelings or thoughts, and all of them are directed about how to give themselves and ONLY themselves pleasure, or they do have them, but they don't actually bring them up when it comes to hurting others.
There's two types of guys who do this stuff: those who genuinely think they're doing nothing wrong, and those who think hurting those inferior to them is good. Both are evil and lack empathy, but in different ways, one through indifference, and the other through active sadism.
(Edited my comment to reflect my point better)
time was people would join CBP as their first step into Federal Civil Service when they didn't have the test scores to get into other agencies. i guess now that's still true, only they aren't planning on leaving.
My dude if stocking grocery shelves paid six figures I'd do that tomorrow.
That makes it sound like you're ok with working for ICE because it pays so well
I don't interpret their response that way.
As someone who is not in a good financial place, I would never work for ICE.
However, as someone who is not in a good financial place, if I realized I was probably working for an evil empire and couldn't change anything from the inside: I wouldn't be able to quit because my family would starve. I'd need to find another way to provide first, and that's not easy when you've got kids and debt in a bad job market.
Stocking grocery store shelves wouldn't pay the bills. That's fairy tale logic/something that people with means can joke about doing.
Heck yeah though, if stocking shelves paid 6 figures I'd apply immediately.
If you can't afford to quit, use the anonymity built into the system to subvert from within. Fire high or low (as the manufacturer instructs!) to avoid harming people. Send the teargas upwind of your own guys, they're masked anyway. Treat protesters with respect and deescalate conflicts. If you're supposed to be rounding up random folks rather than a dangerous criminal, moonrun (a word I just coined to mean making it look like you're putting in the effort while not going anywhere fast) to fool your new body cam while you don't catch anyone. If you have to transport abductees, at least try to make them less uncomfortable and keep family members together. If they show you documents, believe/honor them, and don't confiscate them.
Most of this is how the job should legally be done, it only subverts the most evil parts. If they fire you, make sure you get the cause on record, if only through email bcc'd and saved to your own computer.
Kroger recently announced plans to close around 60 stores across the US over the next 18 months
Sorry. No more money to close stores. Only money to shoot rubber bullets and throw tear gas at the newly unemployed.
That's only 2% of their stores.
Yeah, that's actually pretty damn good given the current economy.
Especially considering the thin margins grocery stores have.
Use up all your sick leave, put in a workers comp claim, get the union involved, and just milk it until they fire you.
Steal their pens and paperclips as well. Maybe a rifle or something too.
I tell myself a similar thing about soldiers that blow up civilian fishing boats.
Anyone else look at the avatar first and then find it impossible not to read in the voice?
