They scared the shit out of me as 12 year old. I remember sometimes opening my eyes at night and peering around into the fuzzy blackness, in fear of seeing those two circles creeping towards me
I had a friend who was obsessed with these guys. I was more of a Scarlet man myself. We fought for supremacy on the playground, and to this day I refuse to tell his parents where he's buried.
The solution is so easy, we just need a quickly digestible post that can be posted to Reddit and be immediately grokked. I propose the following: (hem, hem)

Combined Cadet Force
I still have a hard time explaining this to people who don't know what it is.
Essentially, kids are "voluntarily" put into this thing after school where they dress up in uniforms and berets and forced to do marching drills.
You then pick whether you want to do Army/Navy/RAF, and you get to do some shooting drills. Guns are brought into the school (without ammo) and kids are shown how to shoot.
Every year each group goes on a summer camp type excursion where they get to fire real weapons or fly gliders or something.

Up and down. Something shameful that I'd done in the past is coming back to bite me, and I'm keeping my head down, guard up, and not looking anyone in the eye. In the long scheme of things, it's not that bad, but still, everyone knows.
On the otherhand I rekindled my love of javascript, and started working on a game that I seem to be quite passionate about. Potential future revenue stream depending on popularity (I just need one obsessive whale to make a one-off payment of £100,000 and I'll be set for life).
