A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

The administration has downplayed concerns — from mass job losses, to a potential financial bubble — as President Trump cheers soaring stock prices and faster growth.

No surprises here. Trump loves authoritarian shit. Investment bubbles, layoffs. Funneling taxpayer money towards him and his buddies. That's what he's been working on all his life. And... AI promises all of that. So naturally that's the route to be taken. The riskier, and more livelihoods destroyed, the better.

And when the pyramid collapses, he can use taxpayer funds to recoup the losses!

I cannot wait for this bubble to pop

My concern (besides the faceplant of the economy) is that it won't happen until Conservatives/Republicans are out of office, convincing stupid people that it's the fault of the newly elected and hopefully left leaning new president.

My fear is that the people running the AI businesses became so savvy with bubble bursts, they might have found a way to bypass it.

They basically have. Most of them are recession proof and a lot of these companies have deliberately positioned themselves to be "Too Big To Fail" so when the market crashes and the bubble bursts the tax payers (who will be hit hardest by this) will be forced by the government to bail them out.

That will happen regardless of what the precise timeline is. I’m fully done giving a shit about what conservative idiots inaccurately assume as a result of the propaganda they uncritically consume

More like trying to outrun a stock market collapse when the bubble bursts.
