Rape. It was rape. Call it what it is. The longer we tiptoe around teachers having sex with kids, the longer the problem will exist. She raped a kid.

I don't get this. Not even high school girls find high school boys attractive. How could a grown woman? And what's with the language, the word is raped or sexually abused/assaulted, 16 year old here is assumed unable to consent to sex with any adult.
They are almost assuredly turned on by the power dynamic, not necessarily the student themselves.
I have never thought of it that way and it makes sense.
In some jurisdictions maybe, but only if it's close in age. Like 16 and 18. 26 is very upsetting, what if she got pregnant and kept the child?
Ever heard of Mary Kay Letourneau?
Hey I'm sure there's plenty of 34 and 12 year olds that do have a healthy relationship, you're just cherry picking the bad one here.

I mean, let’s be honest here. In high school there was always at least one overly good looking guy everyone thought would become a model.
Doesn’t excuse the teacher for raping him though. I can be around beautiful people all day long and manage to not have sex with them just fine, nevermind the act being illegal.
We are all very aware how easy it is for you to manage that.
Being ugly helps but the point stands. :D
Rape. It was rape. Call it what it is. The longer we tiptoe around teachers having sex with kids, the longer the problem will exist. She raped a kid.
How stupid do you have to be to tell a coworker that you raped a kid. Hey, how was your weekend? Guess what I did that's super illegal?
That's an interesting way of saying statutory rape.
its kinda gross how far the media will go to not use the word rape... especially in this context
Trump's a rapist but the media is afraid to say so. Suspected pedo, too.
99% of media/news is own'd by his friends. and his followers know what he has done, but they see it as a plus. Dont worry they can just pray to sky daddy for them to forgive them of their sins before they die so they too can go be with jesus or something stupid.
She looks 16
As someone who works IT at a school, this is far too common. I've ignored many a new teacher coming up to me with questions because I thought they were students, and I ignore students at all cost. This has happened in the intermediate buildings. You just can't know how old anyone is anymore, so I assume everyone is underage until proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Why do you ignore students at all cost
Bc they are dumb, and say dumb shit. And I'm not responding to their nonsense. If I keep my mouth shut, nobody can lie and say I said anything I didn't say. We have cameras everywhere, so it's easy to prove I ignored them and walked on by. I've heard too many horror stories of students getting pissed at their teachers and making up lies and getting them fired. I don't want any part of that. I'm here to fix shit and go home.
Story for justification:
My step sisters kid had a bday party that my mom and step dad talked me into going to bc it was at a restaurant I really liked. I sat on the far end with my mom and step dad, didn't really interact with anyone but them as I didn't really know anybody. Kid had one of her friends there that apparently went to the high school where I work.
A week later I'm working in the high school when this student comes up to me and says, "Hey, didn't we have dinner last week?“ in the front of a classroom, loudly.
I had completely forgotten about the bday all together at this point, and definitely didn't recognize this kid bc I was sat on the opposite end of the loooong table of like 20 people, most of whom I didn't know.
I don't even remember what I said tbh. I just remember the feeling of panic, then her eventually going on to say it was for so and so's bday.
It was definitely just done to be funny and to get a rise out of her friends, but that kinda shit can go bad if heard out of context, and I like my job and don't want to risk it over kids being dumb.
I’m not very surprised that a teacher raped a student. I AM surprised (and glad) that she was dumb enough to talk about it TO ANOTHER TEACHER.
How are so many people incapable of doing the literally most obvious and easy task of "do not fuck children" JFC.
Since when is telling a coworker a crime /s
Might be a power thing, but what adult woman wants an inexperienced 16 year old?
A pedophile.
Like literally, by definition.
10 year age gap there, 26 yo woman vs 16 yo dude.
Flip the sexes around, that's a pedophile, no argument at all.
Other than from people who really, really really feel its necesarry to 'well actually you mean ephebophile'.
Grooming is kinda the whole modus operandi here, they get off on the power dynamic, in every way you can interperet 'get off' and 'power dynamic'.
Considering he is above the age of consent it is obviously NOT pedophilia.
If she had been a neighbor it would be legal. The reason it isn't is because she is a figure of authority. Which technically from a legal perspective makes it rape.
In 14 US states it is actually legal!!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_consent
Are you really saying 14 states have legalized pedophilia?
Do you even remember how it is to be 16?
My sister has been happily married to her husband who is 15 years older than her for 30+ years, are you saying my brother in law is a pedophile because of the age difference?
You are judgemental and pushing your norms on other people. And it's disgusting you have so many upvotes!
I had decided to resign from this debate, but some of the comments here, like yours are just so far beyond what lawmakers have decided in by far the most countries it's insane. Are you also considering LGBT immoral?
It's wrong yes, but the term pedo should be reserved for when it's justified, which it isn't here.
My sister has been happily married to her husband who is 15 years older than her for 30+ years, are you saying my brother in law is a pedophile because of the age difference?
I’m not the one saying pedophilia here but relationships like this entirely depend on what age they got together I feel.
