I know it's my fault if I still haven't watched it yet, but I managed to survive without this spoiler up until now.

[–] Snoopey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Don't worry, it's not worth watching

[–] kameecoding@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

If you have seen A New Hope you have seen it, just imagine Episode 4 with more lens flare

If you want to know what happens after Return of the Jedi read Heir to the Empire and its follow-ups.

[–] Snoopey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Thank you! Going to grab the audiobook

[–] the_tab_key@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I just read this trilogy a couple months ago and it was fantastic.

That's how I felt about infinity war and endgame.

I decided not to watch after finding out it was a 2 parter, then after endgame came out I still hadn't watched it after a good year and a half.

Then someone spoiled the ending out of nowhere in a post and I decided I'd finally watch it.

I'm impressed you've gone this long.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 months ago (3 children)

What kinda spoilers for infinity or endgame? I’m curious as to what’s a spoiler for those. I know about the snap, but I know nothing of endgame (I haven’t see a Marvel thing since I went to an iron man 1 prerelease for work, and probably won’t)

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You asked for spoilers so I'm not tagging them. Iron man dies, Captain America retires, black widow dies, antman joins in. There's some wonky parallel world time travel hijinks. Think those are all the big ones.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

Interesting, thanks!

The big one of endgame is Tony Stark commits the single worst crime in the history of the universe by "un-snapping" the half of the universe that was snapped by Thanos 5 years after they disappeared. No accounting for all the people who are dead in the meantime, no accounting for all the awkward conversations of "oh for me I just blinked and now you have two kids and a new wife" or "who are you people and why are you in my house where am I supposed to live now" all because he lacks the imagination to make the universe go back 5 years while keeping Pepper and his daughter the same.

Oh and

spoilerhe dies in the process too
. That's probably more important to most people.

Vision and Gamora both die but Gamora gets replaced with a time clone. The Hulk and Banner integrate and become Smart Hulk. Captain America wields Mjolnir and Thor forges an axe called Stormbreaker whose handle is Groot's arm.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Interesting! I only know like three of those names hahaha

Thank you!

[–] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Vision is Jarvis after he became fully self aware and got a body.

Gamora is a space mercenary who joined the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Bruce Banner is the guy who turns into the Hulk.

Groot is an anthropomorphic tree who only says "I am Groot"

Mjolnir is Thor's magic hammer

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 months ago

Thank you! I knew about Mjolnir from history and Ragnarok Online hahaha. I knew Bruce and Hulk. The rest is foreign to me. I do intend to watch Guardians, but I don’t know that I’ll ever see Avengers stuff. Maybe.

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

I know I saw the movie but I guess it wasn't memorable. 🤷‍♂️

I feel like it might have been spoiled before release? I could be wrong but I remember speculation based on Harrison Ford talking about being too old or plain wanting out of the series.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Possibly. I didn't follow it that closely.

The downvotes on this post are from the crows.

Holy crap that came out in 2015? Thats wild

[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Harrison Ford killed Han Solo. He was trying to after the first film.

[–] D_C@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago

Scott, is that you? Call the gang!!

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago

I booked tickets for opening day to see it after work. I was browsing /all before the show and /r/4chan had tagged all their posts "Kylo Ren kills Han Solo, his father".

Those fuckers.

This REALLY takes me back to the week Return of the Jedi came out. A woman in my office came strolling back from lunch with her friend who worked in the area next to ours. As they separated, she finished their Star Wars conversation by loudly blurting over the partitions: "I haven't seen it yet, but I heard..." .

This was in a group of about a dozen software developers. She was dead to us from then on.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Defenestration.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 months ago

Disney, the makers of Bambi, the Lion King, and Up paid $4 billion to own Star Wars. They made a trilogy about death.

We didn't expect that, but we probably should have.

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 6 points 2 months ago

Scott's getting murdered all the time.

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Dude, spoilers.

[–] Devdoggy@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

And althoo with you.
