And this is why I wear baggy cargo pants/shorts. I have 8 pockets, but only use maybe three at the most. Muwhahaha. Be jealous. 🤴

Gr… gra… grandpa? 😳

I work at a university that is also part of a state system with their own rules (also driven by federal regulations).

You’re conflating the government coming on campus and exerting the power of the law with universities having to comply with said laws. And yes, universities will comply because they have no choice.

Also make sure you follow your swing through for maximum impact. If you stop swinging once the bat makes contact, you’re stopping the force used to drive those home runs.

Yes and no. The money given to universities is mostly earmarked for very specific things, as designated by those who donate the money. It’s not like they have a huge tower of gold that they can swim in to their liking. They have a lot of oversight and auditing to make sure money goes where it’s suppose to. And if they want to keep their many accreditations - and they do - then they need that money to jump through whatever hoops their accreditors require.

This is not just because of the Trump administration. If a university wants federal money, it has to follow certain rules for that money. Its not as symbiotic as you would think. The government can fund research from other, non-academic, institutions.

It makes sense that the rules aren’t arbitrary; e.g., university must accommodate the ADA. But, as we’re seeing these days, nothing stops them from imposing new rules; e.g., Executive Order 13985.

You’re definitely going to need to venti the bathroom; it stinks in there. 🤌

Goddamnit. Hasn’t anybody learned anything from Hollywood? Sequels and reboots most always suck worse than the originals.

Plus, why is his employer pretending he never existed?

Any university that accepts federal funds is beholden to the federal government. And since universities need that money, they will do everything they can to keep Big Brother happy.

Some of it is genetic too. My dad was the healthiest man I ever knew. He exercised 5-days a week, ate healthy, didn’t smoke, and only drank red wine due to its heart benefits. But he still had a high BMI. He just couldn’t shed the belly fat.

That person probably has sex all the time; it takes a certain confidence to pull this off. 😂

Where I’m at, the temps flip-flop day to day, even hour to hour. In the morning it’s 35° outside, and by evening it’s 79°. I gave up keeping up with the temps and shut my unit off for the time being.

My question is why can’t HVAC units be programmed to say that if the outside temp reaches n° and the inside temp reaches m° cold, turn on the heat; conversely, if the outside temp rises to n° and the inside temp reaches m°, then turn on the AC?

My thermostat already knows the outside and inside temp, but I still have to manually switch it back and forth. I want a system that I can just set it and forget it all year round.

In S4E9, at 9’55”, Sisko is using it on various parts of his face. It almost looks like a shaver of some sort.

Has anybody braved any of her links to see what’s up?

I just got back from DC (821 mile drive round trip) to show my support for our veterans.

There were a lot of great speakers with heartfelt messages for us to listen to and absorb. This was my first protest; hopefully not my last.

The organizers (Cliff Cash and Jessica Denson of Fourteenth Now!) did a great job putting this all together.

Thank you too all of our service members, past and present! Also thank you to everyone who showed up to support our service members!

Side note: As I mentioned, I’d never been to a protest before. I’m also a severe introvert who sucks at organizing himself, and I went alone. I almost backed down, especially when my youngest son said he was scared of me getting arrested. But it is for him and my other son that I went, because these things are super important!

Which came first?

A few minutes later I found it had fallen out. Guess I’ll be gluing it back in. But thought you all might appreciate it.

Why you should know: The ‘a’ vs ‘an’ conundrum is not about what letter actually begins the word, but instead about how the sound of the word starts.

For example, the ‘h’ in ‘hour’ is silent, so you would say ‘an hour’ and not ‘a hour’. A trickier example is Ukraine: because the ‘U’ is pronounced as ‘You’, and in this case the ‘y’ is a consonant, you would say “a Ukraine” and not “an Ukraine”.

Tip: when in doubt, sound it out(loud).

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

PMI stands for Private Mortgage Insurance, and it is required on mortgages with a loan-to-value ratio greater than 80%. For example, if your home was worth $100k at the time of closing, and you owe more than $80k on the loan, you are required to have PMI.

I got my annual PMI disclosure tonight, and it says that if I’ve had my loan for at least two years, and have a good payment history for at least two years, I am eligible to cancel my PMI.

It’s not a lot, mind you. But I’d love to save the ~$70/mo it costs. That’s a fifth of vodka and a bag of CBD gummies, every month.

My oldest (M11) loves it, while my youngest (M9) couldn’t be more grossed out by it.
