Eh, I upvoted. Sure traveling the world is neat and all, and I would if I could, but traveling to a nearby national Park or something like that for the weekend costs nothing but gas and time and the chance to "touch grass" is worth it. I'd wager that most people have a neat spot locally that they've never visited, I have a few of those myself that I'm aware of.

Cuz traveling is (usually) prohibitively expensive, and this doesn't really fit the community.

There are some really bitter people on Lemmy. That's why there are so many downvotes everywhere. Some people just need to go outside and touch grass... Which is a form of traveling.
Certain people joined Lemmy just as a better alternative to Reddit, but it seems like they're just leaving one toxic social media for the sake of another. Well at least there are no hierarchies (not talking about .ml rn), billionaire ceos, and algorithm, which is the most important, so i guess the toxicity problem is up for us the users to solve, even if such people will always exist
Poor people are fucking sick of hearing this shit. Especially as an unfortunate resident of the USA. I get no paid vacation whatsoever. I have to pay for my vacations twice; once for the vacation itself and again because I'm not working.

This is something that is not universally true. You would not say something like that if you've ever traveled with small children.
Disconnecting for your stressful daily routine is therapy.

I'm not particularly bitter about it, it's just a fact of life at the moment. What I do take exception to though are people who like to condescendingly suggest that all life's problems could be solved by just heading to the Caribbean or Europe for a few weeks. If I could afford to just pick up and go wherever whenever I felt like it then most of my issues would already be resolved lol
