Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I mean I've been calling for a general strike but..

[–] Fredthefishlord@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 10 months ago

Unions better be a whole fuckin lot more popular after this....

And hopefully the president's tariff powers are henceforth limited

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 38 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What?! No! We're all going to work in American factories! /s

[–] coyootje@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago (2 children)

All those factories that aren't there because all companies decided to move them to China (or another overseas country) to cut costs :D

[–] Trihilis@ani.social 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Don't worry, it will all trickle down eventually!

buying consumer crap generally requires consumer income. the us will quickly become a backwater global export destination for anything other than 1% luxury items because the poors will simply be too poor to matter wrt global demand.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 12 points 10 months ago

Nah, it won't be that bad. Underemployment numbers are going to skyrocket though. You want 10 hours this week? Hah. But at least you're getting that higher rate, right?

Oh, you're not getting that rate yet? Ouch.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 months ago

No we will all work the fields and share the work with our comrades, glorious leader will ensure we all get a fair share from our hard work. ⚒️

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 46 points 10 months ago (1 children)

So what? If there is one thing Donald Trump has made clear, it's that he doesn't give a shit what economists think.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 16 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Laura Loomer is definitely not an economist.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

Giving her the credit for firing a bunch of people was her price for his latest blowie.

[–] 52fighters@lemmy.sdf.org 25 points 10 months ago (1 children)

More men for the meat grinder when his misguided leadership entices China to war. It is going to be ugly and it is entirely preventable. Our vices have blinded us, dulled our intellects and made Trump possible.

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

nope he is going after our allies. he literally has talked about it

[–] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Chances are he’ll be fighting China because they offer help to Canada and Greenland against the US/Russian pinch.

Fuck you Americans.

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

All going according to plan. Sink the economy, blame everyone else, start a war, profit immensely, institute dictatorship, ramp up deportations/jailings/executions.

[–] dipcart@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

You know how you can tell we're fucked? They're not saying we're going to be in a recession anymore. They're saying "its going to be similar to a recession".

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (6 children)

I voted for Trump because I trusted him to make the economy great again and if this is how he's doing it then I will trust in the plan.

Sometimes fish can be so starving they'll strike at anything that hits the water.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I feel kind of bad when they they do, like releasing them is the wrong thing to do in that instance. I do it anyway because the next one might be bigger

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 18 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Lol a SMCF satire comment in the positive? People must be catching onto you lmao

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago (2 children)

No I think it's because they understand Trump's plan too.

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Ya you're right! I myself have been coming around to Trump's master plan and clearly it just takes a true visionary to understand it 😌

[–] Captainvaqina@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

No one in real life is actually that amazingly stupid.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 15 points 10 months ago (1 children)

We're making America great again! 1929 was a beautiful year!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago

It was the start of something great.

[–] xpinchx@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

I'm with you SatansMaggotyCumFart

[–] AuroraZzz@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yay! It's the guy that loves the Jan 6 traitors back to starting internet arguments over loving traitors

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Trump said they're not traitors anymore now they are heroes.

[–] AuroraZzz@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Trump’s feels about his flex are far more important than the damage he does to the rest of us.
