"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

I was in a group chat where the bro copied and pasted my question into ChatGPT, took a screenshot, and pasted it into the chat.

As a joke, I said that Gemini disagreed with the answer. He asked what it said.

I made up an answer and then said I did another fact check with Claude, and ran it through "blast processing" servers to "fact check with a million sources".

He replies that ChatGPT 5.1 is getting unreliable even at the $200 a month model and considering switching to a smarter agent.

Guys - it's not funny anymore.

Why do stupid people have all the money? I'm stupid. Where's my millions of dollars?

[–] Reygle@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

You are self aware and thus not stupid enough for this to apply to you.

You have to be stupid and lack empathy.

[–] thelasttoot@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

And have been born to the right parents.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There's a decent chance it's on credit.

Lol, Klarna for ChatGPT.

I think the more likely answer is (hopefully) they're talking out of their ass. But who knows. Somebody is paying for that $200 tier. At least one person has to be.

It’s not that they’re stupid - it’s that they’re completely unscrupulous and unethical. If you gave up on being a decent human being then I’m sure you’d think up loads of ways of making those megabucks. How about slavery! Hmm, too on the nose. How about we insert ourselves as rent-seeking middlemen in a stable industry, taking a fee from customers and only giving tasks to the workers who generate enough profit for us. It’s not slavery, it’s just the gig economy! And when we say “people are happier not being employees under our system” it won’t be because we’re stupid, it’ll be because we no longer care about inconvenient truths that get in the way of our profits.

Please don’t do any of this, kind lemming.

The best way to make money would be to get into "spirituality" By selling Chakra aligning stickers or somesuch. Or even better, getting into hifi audio, and selling empty boxes you can plug into a wall to "harmonize" the electrical waves of the wiring in the house. 😂

PS. These were actual products being sold.

[–] Silic0n_Alph4@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

Ok, how about Chakra-aligned 5G-blocking ~hifi~ MaxFi audio cables? It’s a niche demographic, but it’d be like shooting tinfoil-hat-wearing fish in a barrel.

From my experience they are really good at blending in and going with the flow, so in companies this means that they are like minded and team players. If you want to move up and make more money you just need to become a yes man and stop making waves

[–] the_artic_one@programming.dev 14 points 2 days ago

See: Bighead from the show Silicon Valley.

[–] db_null@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And SlopGPT is the ultimate yes machine, and that's also why so many blindly follow its commands

[–] Shanmugha@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Thanks, I hate how true this is

[–] BossDj@piefed.social 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Stupid people have blind confidence and take more risks

[–] Denjin@feddit.uk 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The Dunning-Kruger effect. The worse someone's ability in an area, the better the perceive their ability in that area to be.

[–] SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Trump, a perfect example of this

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

It really helps gathering capital if you're too stupid for empathy.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 1 points 2 days ago

Gotta come up with something stupid and convince stupid people to buy it.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Stupid babies need the most attention.
