Phone makers need to understand that a missing headphone jack is a dealbreaker.
Tho it wouldn't be if companies would at least put two usb ports on the devices. I'd be fine using usb wired earbuds as long as I don't have to give my phone one of those dumb splitter tails.
Even though the reasons for ditching the headphone jack were specious I'd rather have a USB Type C port with video output capabilities
Yeah idgaf about headphones ports anymore, USB headphones have gotten me spoiled. But a second USB port would be awesome
*for you
I would say it's a pretty big annoyance but not a deal breaker to me. USB-C to 3.5 dongles are cheap and not that annoying if you get a flexible one
The USB C charging ports on my phones tend to become unreliable over time. It's manageable for charging as you can not move the phone once it's plugged in, but listening to music on the go becomes impossible.
I have two, they are flexible, and I find them obnoxious to have to use. I specifically chose my current phone because it has a headphone jack, and I won't make the mistake of missing that again.
Yea, but it does not work right! And Google, won't fix the old bug where the sound stops and starts every damn time the audio lowers!
Actually this https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/250602/how-to-disable-cutting-sound-to-headphones-at-moments-of-low-volume-during-playb
I disagree. Cables are annoying, especially with something I have to wear on my head. My last headset broke after the cable kept getting tangled. And it wasn't made to be repairable.
Though a second USB port would be fantastic
Well good news, you can still do bluetooth on a phone that has a headphone jack.
And wireless earbuds are? How many earbud batteries crap out after less than a year? I really don't think jamming tiny lithium batteries into everything is the more sustainable option here.
Earphone jacks are last resort for me.
Please. Like 5 people still use headphone jacks
Bluetooth is great
Bluetooth is SO FAR FROM GREAT. it is, in fact, terrible.
Wont connect to the right'profile' Connects to wrong device, Misprioritizes devices, Confuses which audio sink you want Will not reliably remember preferences and settings. Connects as telephone whether you want it to or not. Connects automatically w/out asking making you fiddle with settings every time. Requires menus/screens and setting shit just to function...as opposed to, say 'just plug it in' Broadcasts an easily exploitable signal to everyo e nearby Constantly needs battery/charge Has to 'talk' to you to function Very little if any standardization for pairing/trusting across MFG companies... i mean stop me anytime to let me know how flippi g "great" it is. We traded dead simple, reliable, universal tech for this deeply flawed, frustrating garbage just so we could say "look, no cables!!"
No, bluetooth is not great. Just because you don't use something doesn't mean other people are like you.
Just great. https://media.ccc.de/v/39c3-bluetooth-headphone-jacking-a-key-to-your-phone
It only is for a very small segment
It makes no sense to say it's for a very small segment when we weren't given the choice in the first place.
.. what you're saying doesn't make any sense. If you were to ask all smart phone users about the jack, most people wouldn't care much, ergo: only a small segment cares.
That doesn't change just because of how the jack was phased out.
That's just how things evolve
Prove it.
People are still buying them.
If they're a "deal breaker" then phones would not be selling.
It's not a deal breaker, it's just a major pain in the ass, and my next phone will absofuckinglutely have a headphone jack.
