I was going to upvote, but then your second paragraph erroneously blamed SPD.

The SPD was not in government when Hitler came to power. It was all the conservative parties, including the conservative-centrist coalition partner of the Nazis, the Zentrum party which is the predecessor of the modern CDU, that voted to give Hitler the dictatorial power. Only the SPD opposed that!

Speaking of Zentrum and CDU, their current leader flirted with the far-right by proposing stricter immigration policy that the neo-fascist party, AfD, gleefully wants to pass. And the modern SPD voted to oppose it! Oh how history rhymes and repeats!

I will be honest, I would have run out of things to say after one hour if I am in his position.

Kudos to Booker!

The modern but lone version of Saccho and Vancetti.

And perhaps that explains why a colleague of mine is eating onions.

To be fair, filibuster has two meanings: this, and the other definition being an individual or small group of individuals, acting indepedently, taking over territory of another state in the name of their country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filibuster_%28military%29?wprov=sfla1

Territorially? Yes, Russia is winning. But politically, economically and socially? Russia already lost. The deaths of thousands of soldiers in the face of Russia's demographic crisis will result fewer labour force, which means lower tax revenue. The Russian economy is in war footing and this is already causing inflation because of heightened government expenditure, and businesses struggling to pay the ever increasing wage demands of civilians at home, who replaced the jobs that would have been filled instead by soldiers from the front. With secondary sanctions, even Chinese banks are reluctant to lend to Russia. The future generations of Russians will be paying for the economic and social consequences of the war in Ukraine. In essence, Russia may be winning territorially, but it will be a Pyrrhic victory with generational consequences.

There were protests and hundred of thousands of young Russian men left the country after Putin announced the first "partial" mobilisation. The recruitment process was also botched and conscripted even the disabled and old.

Dating apps are VEERY superficial. You are better off meeting people in real life.

I lot of people love to make conjectures without substantive back up. Must be a carry over from Reddit!

You do realise that poorer people tend to have more children, especially in developing countries? But even then, these countries are gradually developing and their population growth is also slowing down thanks to more education and growing economy. The more educated people are, the more likely they will think first and plan before having a family. Educated people also have higher social mobility with higher disposable income, and likely try to enjoy more themselves than settle down as quickly as possible. So economic factor is a consideration with the slow down on population growth, but not the way you think it does.

Just because there are outliers, it does not mean the whole trend is represented by it. That is to say, the population growth is already slowing down and may even decline after it plateaus. Education and access to contraception works.

The series have good taste in music tbf.

As everyone knows, Reddit is cannibalising itself and the longer time goes on, the users will have deleted their accounts and/or migrated to somewhere else, or they will simply forget about their accounts and log-in details.

I wasn't fully convinced before that Putin has Trump in his pocket, but after that stunt, I am convinced that he is under Putin's thumb. Trump and co. could have had marching orders from Putin to do exactly that. Also, this is something that Putin have done and would do, publicly humiliating someone on live TV.

Why would they want to win anyway? When they are already winning from so much corporate donations???!!!

And unfortunately lemmy.ml is getting more online traffic recently.

I saw plenty of kintsugi kits available in my area (to those who do not know what kintsugi is, it is the art of fixing broken ceramic/pottery items using lacquer). However, I do not know if the quality is good for the price presented by these shops. Could anyone knowledgeable or experienced in kintsugi give some tips? I'd appreciate any help and thank you in advance.

I got hyped by the TV series so I will play the game for the first time (yes, I know, it took this long). I usually prefer to buy GOG version of a game but I saw the rating of FO4 GOG at 3.9/5. Why is that? I have read somewhere that there is technical issue of some sort which includes modding for GOG version? I expected higher gamer rating for FO4 in GOG but a lower rating typically indicates for me some genuine issues.

Edit: also the GOG Version says it does not include the Creation Club. What is it and is it in some way better than using Nexus mods?

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can't count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with handicap features, and also to find Easter eggs. Speaking of Easter eggs, you'd lose a number of hours exploring every nook and cranny finding them!

I was watching a video on Willem Dafoe on his iconic roles, and his passion to craft and life, and positivity, exudes from him immensely. In that video, I am surprised he remembers from which of his movies the lines came from. It made me love him more as an actor because he loves life and his job.

But then during the interview, I remembered too when I watched Kevin Spacey's interview before, admiring him and it turned out he is a creep. I was telling to myself about Willem Dafoe "please don't be a creep, please don't be a creep."

Willem seems like a genuinely nice guy though but I hope I don't get proven wrong!

Edit: clarified the title
