You can download and twiddle anything you can screenshot. There is no way to garner "consent". Was Xitter a dumpster fire already and is this feature going to make it burn faster, well yes of course. But the engagement metrics will look glorious for the shareholders for a moment, until all the adolescents get jaded again.
There is a difference between downloading and manually making changes vs having a built in tool do it on demand with no real time or monetary cost.
I don't disagree, it certainly has removed all brakes and hurdles.
