Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Translation: "give me enough money and I'll promote whatever you want."

Most presidents at least pretended they couldn't be bought.

He on the other hand is haggling openly and then brags about it.

And his moron followers are proud of him 🙄

He's going to "drain the swamp" and replace it with an auction house.

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 26 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I thought he was draining the swamp so he could sell swamp water?

[–] Dultas@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

After burying Melania there.

Turns out "playing 4D chess" is just MAGA politikese for "broadcasting our corruption loudly and assuming enough people are also either too corrupt, ignorant, or disaffected to do anything about it."

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 41 points 2 years ago (1 children)

And I haven't bought Goya since.

[–] Good_morning@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wow, I didn't realize this actually happened, til now I'd honestly thought it was some sort of shit post. This is the strangest timeline

[–] 418_im_a_teapot@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

No fucking way! I also thought it was a joke. But tan suits, that’s the real problem.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 3 points 2 years ago

No, the real problem is putting mustard in your burger. Those were dark times...

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 years ago

Ah yes. Thanks for the reminder of those times, which COVID had distracted me from.

I can't decide whether this pic or the photo of George W. Bush literally holding hands with the king of Saudi Arabia is worse. I mean, at least Goya doesn't have people cut up with bone saws and they definitely had nothing to do with 9/11.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I like to substitute Trump's middle initial with a G instead of a J.

Donathan Goya Trump

[–] LilDumpy@lemmy.world 44 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nah. Imo, this is him telling oil company that they need to step up and fully fund his requests for money "or else". Didn't he recently ask the oil industry for an insane amount of money at the beginning of his campaign or something?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 30 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's not really contradicting what I'm saying.

[–] LilDumpy@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

No, you're right. But I think this is specifically a message to the oil industry.

[–] NegativeInf@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Little quid, little pro, lots of quo.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

The best quo. Lots of smart people are saying it's the best quo. The quid? Not so good. But the quo is good.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Bought and paid for politician Trump is.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Except he doesn't sell himself to the highest buidder, he'll sell out to any and all of them at the same time.

"I can only suck one dick at a time, but I also have two (normal-sized) hands."

[–] capt_wolf@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Dude's made a living selling his stupid face every opportunity he can to get attention, why would he let a little thing like presidential integrity get in the way? It certainly didn't when he was actually president!

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

"Some fok'll never tip their hand, but then again some fok'll. Like Donald the Slack-jawed Yokel."

Trump: "It wasn't my fault, he had a LOT
of money."

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

No translation needed, since he is saying it outright.

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 years ago

Fr wtf, the shamelessness adds insult to injury.
