Desflurane is a commonly used inhalational general anaesthetic agent, and it is also a potent greenhouse gas, with a global warming potential 2540 times that of carbon dioxide (CO2).

Following support from WATAG and the Western Australian Drug Evaluation Panel (WADEP), desflurane was delisted from the WA SMF in August 2023

In short:

The largest recorded fatberg in WA, weighing 30,000 kg, was found in Perth's sewer system during routine maintenance.

Fatbergs are entirely preventable and form due to non-flushable items like wipes and fats being disposed of incorrectly.

What's next?

Workers spent two days earlier this week using an excavator to break up and remove the fatberg, which has been taken to the tip.

A big thank you to the lovely lady who turned around and walked me home as she had an umbrella and noticed I didn't. Love you Perth.

No one is surprised Labor have the Assembly, but that's all the media seem to be reporting on.

Its a funny answer, but why are they talking about that in this situation?

Why did they even get lobbed that kind of a question? Its a State leadership contest. Who were the yahoos running this leadership forum.

Anyone found a good source for policy summaries for all the minor parties and independents this year?

Haven't found anything that covers the upper house this time around.

Hi all, this is just me exploring ways we could enliven the Perth/Western Australian Community more.

The idea is in the title.

Basically my thought is for casual ongoing conversations throughout the week.

Reasons

I've resisted putting this post up for over a year for a couple reasons,

1. I's not sure that the Community had a stable number of users to support. Over the last year i actually think, while posting is low, interaction from whatvlooks like Fediverse West Australians seems reasonable, (even if some from other sites don't like my posts ;) ). I still don't know if its enough, but looking at the other Community chats its a different sort of interaction than the general posts, so maybe its worth a try.

2. I don't really want to be the leader on this. I'm sick of seeing my username so prominently on this Community :p . To be sure, I'm not going to stop posting, but i don't really want to be the one pushing another thing onto this Community. I also don't think my style of conversation is particularly suitable or relaxed to start a general chat thread. In saying that, i'd of course participate and support in any way i can.

Thoughts

I'm interested to hear everybodies thoughts on this from WA or further afield.

Particularly from people who might be interested in leading this and any thoughts from the other moderators.

Western Australian Labor has unveiled plans to slash the cost of home battery storage, with state government rebates of up to $5,000 per household, or $7,500 for households on the regional Horizon Power grid....

Eligible households would have up to 10 years to repay the no-interest loans of $10,000 or less....

Cook has also promised to invest $50 million of public money to a Battery Manufacturing Program of direct grants and low-interest loans to support the development of a home battery supply chain in the state.
