I’ve bought very few microtransactions and the most satisfying was the Delorean Time Machine from Back to the Future in Rocket League

Are they skipping M3?

I get the sentiment, but in this case it seems misguided. Most of BMW’s electric models are sedans, and one of their first (the i3) was a compact car. They still have BMW pricing, so I can’t afford one (new, anyway), but they are building electric sedans.

Actually I’ve done very well with girls who think I’m a dork, in an endearing way

Was in a Bolt EUV for about 6 weeks while my wife’s Soul got the engine replaced (Kia paid for the rental). I ran the numbers and had a similar result as you. Very nearly bought one but the fast charging was abysmally slow and the cup holder was unusually narrow, couldn’t fit my water bottle that has fit in every other car before or since. Also, my car at the time was our long-distance hauler. Still strongly considering electric for when I replace it. Chevy’s new Equinox and Blazer EVs fixed my complaints and still have the physical buttons, but got rid of Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for a custom interface from Google.

I rode something similar in La Rochelle on the west coast of France, although they insisted it was a water bus and not a ferry. Not sure what was the reasoning on that, might’ve been how they enabled transfers in the transit system.

Didn’t enabling audio mean you couldn’t have 4 players connected while in use, though? But, if you’re using headphones you probably don’t have more than one player anyway.

This still will not make me like the Giants.

I’m not reading all that!

I mean reading that link the British and Germans had similar ideas…

That’s just a J1772, level 1 or 2 AC charging.

Onboard camera in rear-facing engine recorded the event. No one was in that engine, apparently the last of 4 hauling the train. No one was hurt on the train.

It’s kind of worse when you see it on the map, because it appears to be running parallel to an existing developed area, like they built a bypass through the rainforest for the climate summit, not a road for someplace previously unconnected.

This track popped up in my Facebook memories today. The note I had with it said I was listening to a station on Pandora spawned from Vince Guaraldi when this played. I said I wanted to listen to the rest of his album, but I don’t think I have. Maybe being reminded of it this time will get it back on my radar.

I have an Xbox One X. Tonight I noticed a banner on the main screen saying I could get up to $150 trading in my console for an Xbox Series X. I scanned the QR code for the trade-in calculator and it told me my promotional value was actually $100, not $150. There hasn’t been a lot on the Series S/X that interests me that I can’t play on my One X other than Flight Simulator. I do also use it as my media player for that TV, so the one advantage it has is if I subscribed to YouTube TV’s 4K package I could watch it on that TV (the One X is not listed as supported but can apparently show some, though not all, YouTube TV 4K content). I don’t even actually play that much so I’m not sure it’s worth spending the money, but I am curious about doing the upgrade. It looks like all my games should still play and my controllers still work? I don’t have anything that uses the Kinect and don’t have a Kinect, so no worries there. So if I did the trade-in I wouldn’t lose anything and would gain a current-gen system? I think I would get a Series X, but not the 2TB Galaxy edition.

The motorcycle passenger was pronounced dead at the scene and the motorcycle driver went to the hospital with critical injuries.

Hayes Barton is an older, prominent neighborhood in Raleigh, North Carolina, the state capital. It has many large houses, lots of old money families, and I had always assumed it was named for a prominent older family or families, perhaps the owners of the land before it became a neighborhood. Today, though, I learned that it was named for the house where Sir Walter Raleigh was born, Sir Walter Raleigh of course being the city’s namesake. The house still stands today but is a private residence, not open for tours. I read that Sir Walter wanted to buy the house but Queen Elizabeth I would not let him, wanting to keep him in London close to her.

I had two BlackBerry devices for work, right about the time they were going away. I'd heard the keyboard was good on earlier models but it seemed like the quality had gotten pretty cheap on the later phones. The BlackBerry 10 OS on my last phone was actually pretty good, and probably would've kept them in the market if they'd launched it 5 years earlier.

I knew it couldn’t last forever, but it’s still a shame the streak has ended. A CRJ700 operated by PSA for American Airlines collided with a Black Hawk while landing at Reagan National Airport. Sixty-four people were on the plane and 3 on the helicopter.

Edit: Corrected name on Black Hawk from one word to two

A collection of reactions to the Hurricanes blockbuster trade as posted by the team on official social media. To recap, the ’Canes are getting star right winger Mikko Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche and left winger Taylor Hall from the Chicago Blackhawks as well as the rights to Chicago prospect Nils Juntorp. Chicago will also cover half of Rantanen’s remaining contract, which expires at the end of the season. Chicago will get their third-round draft pick back from Carolina, which Carolina had received in a previous trade. Colorado gets the Hurricanes’ leading scorer Martin Necas and center Jack Drury along with the Canes’ second-round draft pick this year and fourth-round pick next year.

Rantanen might not just be a rental; he’s reported to want a similar contract as Leon Draisaitl at around $14 million/year for 8 years while Colorado wanted to keep it closer to $10 million. Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky today said the team has the financial flexibility to provide the desired contract if Rantanen wants to stay in Carolina.

I don’t even care about Chicago’s sports teams but the pain was palpable from the writer/sportsfan.

Not actually a shower thought; this occurred while waiting in line to cross the border from Canada back to the US. In fact, I had a double “I told you so” for my wife in that line, and she clearly knew it. The past 3 years we’ve visited my wife’s parents over the holidays but I’ve always said I want to get back across the border before New Year’s Day in part because traffic would be better, but this year with the dates she convinced me and insisted we never have to wait at Champlain so it would be fine. As we approached the border and message signs announced waits exceeding an hour I had my first one. Then as we were waiting in line I noticed there was basically no line for the NEXUS lane, which I’ve been pushing for years but she felt we didn’t need because the application sounded complicated and “we never have to wait” at border crossings.
