LMAO as a child of Cuban immigrants, I can assure you that there are already plenty of Cuban Americans in this country worshipping Trump as if he were Jesus. My grandfather had a portrait of him on his nightstand before he passed, right next to his beloved grandchildren (although tbf he was in the early stages of dementia at the time)

Whichever candidate accuses the other of being a communist first wins that privilege in the mind of the Cuban immigrant. Republicans have been winning that game since the first balsero landed in Miami. There's a spanish language radio station here called Radio Mambi which is an endless stream of the worst pro-Trump propaganda imaginable.

It's equal parts scary and depressing. These people escaped one authoritarian regime and are now flocking to another. It legit makes me ashamed.

Sounds like you're holding yourself up to some unrealistic standards. You might not win internet points from the teenagers on le reddit, but real life is imperfect like this.

I genuinely don’t think anyone else alive really knows me as much as she does. We’ve seen each other ugly-cry multiple times and our arms know each other’s anguish. We’ve seen each other brought low and defeated, denuded of pride and dignity. And that just made us draw each other closer in, somehow.

How do you square this with the belief that she'll hate you/end the friendship/whatever if you bring up another difficult topic? If you get rejected, it'll be awkward for a while, but it will be easier for you to get over your obsession. Idk how old you are, but stuff like this tends to balloon to overwhelming proportions inside your head, but will deflate the instant you bring it out into the real world. That's just anxiety in general.

It's easier for me to write this than for you to believe it, but it's really not as big a deal as you think it is... but if she falls in love with someone else, it'll be even harder for you to ever bring this up with her, and that regret will be stuck with you forever. Now THAT will suck.

Hi, recent firefox refugee here, and I'm trying to figure out how to get webgl fully working. I already disabled webgl.disabled in about:config, and that seems to have done the trick for most webgl content.

However, the site noclip.website doesn't work. It's basically a 3D model viewer for game maps, and all I get is a black screen. This site works fine in Firefox on this same machine.

I'm using LibreWorld 135.0.1-1 Flatpak on Linux

Does it feel like the fediverse is exclusively used by older tech nerds? (lemm.ee)
 

The mastodon and lemmy content I’m seeing feels like 90% of it comes from people who are:

  • ~30 years old or older

  • tech enthusiasts/workers

  • linux users

There’s nothing wrong with that particular demographic or anything, but it doesn’t feel like a win to me if the entire fediverse is just one big monoculture.

I wonder what it is that is keeping more diverse users away? Is picking a server/federation too complicated? Or is it that they don’t see any content that they like?
