I was reading various old posts and the librewolf faq, but none answer my question, so here I am.

Following scenario:

I have the setting against fingerprinting enabled, which is probably the reason why a new private window opens at a set height and set width, 900 and 1600 respectively per about:config.

Now! If I maximise the window, then the inner limits of the window with a webpage do not change (as far as I can tell), what does change is that the original window is embedded now in a bigger window, the bookmarks bar (which I view as separate from the window where a webpage itself is) does stretch to fit to the new size - but as I understand fingerprinting, it's only about the part where the webpage is, not the bookmarks bar or the textbox for the address.

So why does every resource keep saying that maximising the window makes it easier to identify the user if the relevant part of the browser is kept at set height and width even if the window is being maximised? Why having the webpage kind of embedded in a bigger window if it doesn't serve its purpose: Making sure the window is the same size for every user and thus helps against fingerprinting?

Does anyone know if anything changed with the new tab settings?

I used to have this custom userContent.css to add more columns to topSites described below, but it is no longer working after I updated :/

I was able to change the new tab favicon on LibreWolf with CSS:

But I'd also like to be able to change the logo that appears on the "about:logo" page (looks like lemmy.world's CSS page is locked for now, so I'm asking here). Anyone know how to do this?

I kiped the logo from LibreWolf's reddit page, it's by u/NO8X71; tell me it's not the coolest thing you've ever seen! Wish I'd done it.

Hello librewolf community! I recently installed librewolf on macOS and am having an odd issue when attempting to view logs from my docker containers or when using the terminal in unraid. I have tried to disable a few settings but can’t seem to resolve. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I recently switched to Librewolf from Firefox. On Firefox, thanks to addons, I never saw YouTube ads. Now I see them everywhere, all the time, thanks to Librewolf. What's going on and how does one change that? It's up to date and it won't let me install any add ons or plugins.

This started just today - for state highways like 99, interstate routes like 5, Smaller highways like 12, the highway number appears for a short time after a reload, but quickly gets replaced with a gray box.

Tested with Firefox and this does not happen there (Firefox ESR)

Was wondering why no new messages turned up, since tuesday or something. Turned out the Librewolf Matrix room is changed / upgraded or something like that. It involves joining once again. But both in Element and Fluffy clients I get this error:

MatrixError: [403] You do not belong to any of the required rooms/spaces to join this room. (https://matrix-client.matrix.org/_matrix/client/v3/join/!AMixpitUKQHatikSri%3Amatrix.org?server_name=matrix.org&server_name=envs.net&server_name=fedora.im&via=matrix.org&via=envs.net&via=fedora.im)

Is there a way to join the matrix chat room one again?

This is only nice-to-have but I thought I should note it here too. I sometimes find myself looking into the browsing history to find out when I visited a certain page the last time for curiosity.

The suggestions that appear under the URL bar when typing something should also include when the user visited the page the last time.

A behaviour inherited from Firefox is that the "Del" key immediately deletes items from history. This can happen accidentally. I recommend that LibreWolf shows a warning before that.

This is something I thought Mozilla would eventually fix, but still hasn't in over a decade.

When clicking a target="_blank" link that opens in a new tab, the URL bar shows "about:blank" until the server responds.

Also, document.location.href in the console returns "about:blank" instead of the real URL. This is annoying for user scripts.

It would be better if it immediately showed the target URL. document.location.href also should immediately return the correct URL.

After right clicking a file in the list of downloaded file, an option I have been wishing for a long time is "copy path to file to the clipboard".

By that I mean the local path where the file is saved. The source URL can already be copied.

Currently, LibreWolf (like Firefox) only shows a request in the devtools after it is completed. If it fails because the server does not respond, it shows "No payload for this request".

It would be better if it showed the payload that it tried to send, even if it was unsuccessful.

In 2022, Mozilla replaced their performance analysis tool (screenshot source) with an externally dependent tool called "Firefox Profiler". It is not integrated in Firefox but depends on an external web app, which is bad.

Please bring back the original "Performance" tool in the developer tools.

Please add something like browser.privatebrowsing.forceMediaMemoryCache for normal browsing (non-private).

Video caching to disk adds gigabytes of needless wear every day to SSDs and live USB sticks, and modern computers have large RAM storage anyway.

This is the same reason Mozilla chose to compress json sessionstore backups. (But video is already compressed so it can not be compressed any further with lz4 or gzip.)

Does anyone know of a way to get Librewolf to support 1440p stream quality on twitch.tv? Some streamers that I watch recently started streaming in 1440p but the quality doesn't show up for me. Perhaps the codec isn't supported? I've seen some people recommend following the instructions here for Firefox https://pastebin.com/cBD4nBPa but I'm on Mac (and on firefox it shows the 1440p option without doing anything special).

I see random connections to push.services.mozilla.com, I think it would be wise to prohibit these ...

Ideally, it would be nice if the list of website exceptions to Enhanced Tracking Protection was synced to the Mozilla account, but an alternative would be the ability to export and import your list once it's established. This would be handy for using Librewolf across multiple devices or if you need to do a fresh install.

Background: I use profiles frequently to separate work, home and other things. In some profiles I use other DRM and fingerprint settings etc Also I switched from installing from flathub to manual (https://librewolf.net/installation/debian/)

Issue: Since a couple of weeks, some profiles dont start. Choosing them will amount to nothing. Librewolf doesnt start, not in the background nor in the foreground. Choosing another profile and after that, the intended one sometimes works around the issue.

Research:

The installs.ini shows the default profile TWO times:

[AA67A15BF0F93AE3] Default=Thuis Locked=1

[6C4726F70D182CF7] Default=Thuis Locked=1

Both installs are also mentioned in profiles.ini.

Question:

• Is having 2 install entries the cause? Because the profilemanager doesnt know what to do?
• Should I remove one of them but which? Opening the /.librewolf/Thuis profile doesnt give information which one is in use. Or I dont know where to look. Assuming this will help of course.

The link squares are smaller, and the grid of all the shortcuts has been moved down so that there's a big gap at the top and the page scrolls.

Hi! Moving from Firefox to Librewolf. Been using "activity-aware firefox" for a long time and find it very helpful to have different settings for work and hobbies using different activities on Plasma. Is there any alternatives for Librewolf?

So I have seen comments that bitwardens extension works and want to check if no script does. Since libre wolf is just configuration I figure most stuff should work but not real sure. I looked to see if there was something like a pinned questions thread which I would normally put a minor question like this. Considering recent news maybe instead a moving from firefox pinned thread for awhile first.

Hello everyone,

Obligatory "I'm a recent Firefox refugee" header.

The migration went mostly fine, with one notable exception. I use LastPass as a password manager, so naturally I installed the extension. However, it does not show up in the address bar or in the overflow menu.

The autofill helper does show up on login forms, but clicking on the icon fails to open the LastPass login page. No errors except some cryptic stuff from a minified JS script.

I was surprised not to find anything about this online. Are there other LastPass users in here? What else can I do to help debugging?
