Couldn't agree more. Consoles not being upgradable is the reason why I exclusively play PC games.

It's no surprise that the 32X failed; I don't know what Sega was thinking when they decided to go back to a sound chip after everyone already got used to PCM audio with the Sega/Mega CD. I think if the Sega CD was delayed long enough to add a 3D accelerator, they could have canceled both the 32X and Saturn, dropped the upgraded Mega CD in 1994 for $249, and absolutely dominate the 5th gen before the PlayStation ever got a chance.

Ad companies are never going to regulate themselves—it's like hoping for heroin dealers to write drug laws.

Actually, I think that's a good idea. Everyone already knows that banning recreational drugs only makes more people want to try them. And seeing how the legal weed system in my home state is controlled entirely by a handful of billionaires who artificially keep prices high, I think it would be a lot wiser to put legalization in the control of the common people.

What a terrible analogy.

My main and all my alts except one was banned cause I kept reporting blatant ads disguised as legitimate posts as spam. Happened around the same time they killed off 3rd party apps, so I needed a good excuse to try Lemmy anyway.

Yes except for niche subs. I visit reddit about once a week now instead of daily. Can't wait for the day to come when I can leave for good.

I'll wait for lab grown meat to hit stores

And in the Nintendo communities

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And yeah even at $40 they're still a good deal. They have about a $10 build quality, though. However the $500+ sound quality more than makes up for it.

By the way, I forgot to mention that you should also get the velour ear pads mentioned in the modding guide I linked to earlier. The stock ones are too thin and as such they can cause ear pain. The velour also helps with bass response.

Yeah seriously it's so annoying.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Agreed. Only ever owned motherboards with a dual bios, ever since I built my first PC so I could play Crysis back in 2008. Never actually needed to use the backup BIOS, but I rather have it and not need it, than not have it and need it.

Every. Fucking. Night.

Having anxiety sucks.

Edit: I've even set redundant alarms, yet I still worry that both my phone and watch will die in the middle of the night. Surely doesn't help that it has already happened once before. Forgot to charge my watch one night, and then YouTube overheated my phone and somehow killed my battery while it was plugged into a 25w rapid charger. (They need to fix that bug already; YT will randomly overheat my phone at least once a month. This has been happening for at least 5 years now.)

Start a fake restaurant and then order directly from Sysco.

Just wanted to drop by and say something cause I know at least a couple of people were expecting me in the Discord today.

These past three days have been non-stop work for me (on top of my day job. edit: Not to mention all the time it took to get the website & station up and running). I appreciate all your song submissions and applications. They just keep coming which shows me that there's a real interest in keeping this thing going. But it's easy for me to get burnt out quick, especially since I have ADHD.

So today is a mental break for me. Tomorrow I will be back at it, processing more tunes and getting all the DJs who signed up on the airwaves ASAP, so that you're not stuck listening to the same songs every single day. Also planning on making some proper bumpers to replace the generic placeholders that just say "this is Radio Lemmy" every 4 songs or so. A few people have offered to make some; can't wait to hear them.

Also, themed days are in the works, i.e. dedicated days where only one genre is played for the day. I'm thinking we'd do this twice a week, maybe 3 times. Of course DJs can still play whatever they want on those days; this will just be for the Auto DJ that picks songs when no one's connected. I figure this will help add some consistency since right now everything from every genre is just playing on shuffle.

And that's just the stuff that I'm ready to announce. Big things are planed for the station. Thanks for your support; stay tuned!

Jazzing it up on the airwaves this afternoon/morning! Don't miss it

Mixing live on my gear. The theme of the show will be trance anthems from the 90s and 2000s. At least that's the idea. I'll be accepting requests and so who knows where the show will go.

Look forward to seeing you there! Check the schedule on the website.

EDIT: If you missed it, you can listen back to the show here: https://soundcloud.com/psythik/dj-psythik-aka-genesis-live-on-radio-lemmy

For the past few weeks I've been working on creating my own public radio station (it's been a dream of mine since I was a kid). Well now it's up and running but I don't know what to do with it. So I thought I'd see what Lemmy thinks about the concept, before I go all in and start investing in licensing fees, better servers, and more listener capacity.

If you're interested, we'll need curators to add songs to the rotation when no DJ is on air. It's simple and straightforward. Just click "Suggest" on the top right of the website and enter the Artist + Song Title on the form.

We will also need DJs and presenters to volunteer any freetime you're willing to give up and help make this happen. Click "Join" to get started.

All styles and genres are welcome. Hop on the airwaves anytime you want. Take requests, or don't. Mix and scratch, or just play one tune after another. Host a talk show/podcast if it suits you. Up to you. You can either use your own DJ/broadcasting software, otherwise there is a Web DJ interface for those with no software/experience.

EDIT: Thanks for all the song submissions so far! I've added them to the rotation. Feel free to suggest any tunes for removal as well.

EDIT 2: Looks like I'm going to have to upgrade web servers sooner than expected. If you're having issues connecting, try the temporary URL

EDIT 3: Gonna take awhile to go through the applications. I'll take care of as many as I can tonight. Check your inbox (and don't forget the @ in your username when applying. I can't reply if I don't know what instance you're using.)

EDIT 4: All DJ applications have been processed so far. Check your inboxes! Gonna spend the next few hours uploading more of your song suggestions. This takes awhile because I have to manually check every tune to make sure it's suitable for airplay! Upon approval, your tune(s) will play at regular intervals. It may take a few hours for it to play for the first time. BTW, remember to use the "Submit" button. "Request" is for one time requests when a DJ is live. I'm brainstorming ideas on streamlining this so that the tune always goes to the right place.

EDIT 5: Well this blew up bigger than I could have hoped for. Gonna call it a night, but I'll be back tomorrow to upload more of your suggestions!

Also I'm going to dust off the turntables and do a live show tomorrow @ 7-9pm EST (00:00-02:00 GMT, check the schedule on the website). Requests accepted. Catch you on the airwaves then!

Ever since I was a kid, I've been dreaming of creating my own radio station. Well I finally made it happen but didn't know what to do with it, so I figured I'd offer up the concept to Lemmy to see if you're interested!

Tune in here: https://radiolemmy.com/

I need DJs and curators! If you're interested, please click the "Join" link on the top right of the page of the station's website. No experience necessary. Play anything you want; all styles and genres are welcome. Hop on the airwaves anytime. Take requests, or don't. Mix and scratch, or just play one tune after another. Host a talk show/podcast if it suits you. Up to you. You can either use your own DJ/broadcasting software, or the Web DJ interface if you have no software/experience. Whatever works best for you.

As for curators, I need you to add songs to the Auto DJ rotation (i.e. what plays when there is no DJ on air). Click the "Suggest" button on the website to submit your favorite tunes! (no registration required)

Feel free to post your questions here, and thank you for tuning in! Let's make this thing happen!

Genesis Coupe Owners Group contains an enormous amount more information and pictures than Reddit does, especially the pinned posts in the featured section. Join the group by answering all of the membership approval questions that pop up after clicking join, and agree to the group rules. Approval is usually given quickly. Group atmosphere is friendly and informative unlike many other online car groups.

In the featured section of this group you will find other useful posts such as:

The Official Wheel Thread containing many pics and specs of wheels others are running on their Genesis Coupes. These will help you decide what wheels and specs to choose for your own vehicle.

The Official Exhaust Thread with many videos of various exhaust setups to help you decide what exhaust option you should choose for your own vehicle.

The Official Oil Analysis Guide where used oil analysis samples will be consolidated to show data on how specific engine, operating conditions and oil choices fare together regarding the 2.0T and 3.8 Genesis Coupes. This is partially an effort to combat wildly bad oil information commonly spread online. I currently have more samples in the works for a back to back 5w20/5w30/5w40 comparison and will be updating it accordingly.

Recommended Vendors

OEM parts - Albert Hwang (alternate link for mobile devices) is a very reputable (and most importantly cheap) OEM parts dealer that ships OEM parts quickly and worldwide. Send him a message on Facebook, he is usually quick to respond and you will typically get your parts within a few days. I've personally used him multiple times and cannot recommend him enough. Don't pay dealership prices for OEM parts. His Instagram page for those without Facebook.

Rockauto.com - always has a large selection and great prices. I suggest ordering things like engine air filters, cabin air filters, and oil filters in bulk from them so you always have spares. OEM oil filters are made by Mahle, it is strongly recommended to stick to OEM filters to reduce startup rattles.

ECU Tuning

SFR - I've personally been running a canned stage 1 tune from them in my 2010 3.8 since early 2014 for over 200k miles on the tune alone without issues. Some people say SFR had bad tunes, some don't. Mostly positive reviews, some negative ones.

Alphaspeed - probably the most common these days, usually done by an authorized tuner in your area. Mostly positive reviews as well, but still has some negative ones too.
