So they want a martyr? Likely they're just too dense to see past their own fears.
News
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
More like political ambition. I’ll never understand a country that elects its prosecutors. Madness.
Yeah I'm also struggling to see the logic in this.
The dude is already sort of a folk hero. If you kill him you will absolutely be creating a martyr. It's going to be one of those things that might not make a big impact right away, but the worse shit gets for rank and file Americans the more they will remember Luigi. And that's when you get copycats...
Luigi hasn't really sparked much more than social media posts. The powers that be know they have us sedated.
Yeah I'm going to have to see a lot more out of Americans to actually feel like Luigi made a change.
Again, if this supposed killer was a danger to other persons at the time - why was the witness we saw in the video left unharmed? Why weren’t the streets cleared immediately? Following the fortunate death of that POS, officers said that there was no threat to anyone else in the area.
Make a martyr. You stupid fucks. Others will come for you too then when the time comes.
why was the witness we saw in the video left unharmed?
Two witnesses. There was the lady on the sidewalk, and there was a driver in the car parked at the curb that he walked in front of (you could see the brake lights flash).
One could argue that the threat of imitation is considerable. However we have not seen any open discussion of further attempts so that might be a mute point.
I hope the defense leans into this, as well as the claims of guilt before trial, as evidence of bias. Would they be doing the same if a white person allegedly shot a migrant? Or a Christian allegedly shot a Muslim?
Or if a kid crossed state borders to shoot and kill people at a protest

It's like they want jury nullification.
I don't think there was anything political about it.
CEO was a bastard who thrived on other people's suffering. Oh wait maybe there could be a warped political bend to this.
Whether it was Luigi or someone else that shot him, from the video it didn't seem like anyone else was in danger.
The killing of a non-political figure due to that person heading a company that regularly rejects insurance claims of sick people is "political violence" in what way? If this is political violence then every killing is.
You know what was an act of political violence? Jan 6th
Meanwhile the world seeks the death penalty for America. /S
If it's valid to seek the death penalty for Luigi, then every wrongful death claim against an insurance company should include a criminal element that seeks the death penalty for the CEO.
That sounds like justice
Looks like nothing was lost when that CEO died. There was only righteousness in the killers actions.
I'm pretty sure that the shooter is not guilty by reason of benefiting society at large.
I was under the impression that Luigi Mangione was INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty by a jury of his peers...
The world needs more Luigi’s

keep posting details. we should protest every bit of the way
This will cause a firestorm.
Legal killing only goes one way.
Ugh... "ghost gun"
If you people let him die, you have failed as a society and you deserve the government you have. Organise yourselves.
