Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Someone's gonna lose their job for telling the truth.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago (6 children)

IIRC Robin Hood never killed anyone, and Luigi didn't steal anything or give anything away...

[–] NauticalNoodle@lemmy.ml 98 points 11 months ago (1 children)

"IIRC Robin Hood never killed anyone..."

neither did luigi.

The knight who slays the dragon is never painted as a murderer.

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 50 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Yeah but he's sexy as fuck in green

[–] Boxscape@lemmy.sdf.org 53 points 11 months ago

Yeah but he's sexy as fuck in green

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

In fairness, Luigi is sexy as fuck in any color. :)

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He really is terribly good looking.

[–] spirinolas@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago (2 children)

No homo but if he smiled at me I'd grow ovaries.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 4 points 11 months ago

If you did, then it wouldn’t be homo and you could totally fuck nohomonessly. Hot right? I’d watch.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 1 points 11 months ago

How would a bot grow ovaries?

[–] Fondots@lemmy.world 40 points 11 months ago

There's not really a single robin hood canon, some versions of him are quite violent, others he avoids killing. All depends on who was telling the story and when.

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 21 points 11 months ago

He stole our hearts

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 19 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The earliest tales of Robin Hood had him brutally murdering people for kind of no reason.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

No it was more like "Dude's daughter rebuffed my marriage proposal, so I beheaded him."

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

Luigi made a bigger impact :)

[–] PortoPeople@lemm.ee 58 points 11 months ago

He's a hero.

Less Robin Hood. More John Brown.

I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think vainly, flattered myself that without very much bloodshed it might be done.

~ Charlestown, Virginia Dec 2, 1859

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 25 points 11 months ago

Fuckin John Brown. The hero we need.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And we still screwed it up and let the south keep slavery for 100 years just changing the name to Jim Crow.

And now they've finally won their civil war, segregation academies are coming back and everything .

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

We still have slavery today it's called "private prisons"

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Hell yeah dude.

[–] Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago

Robin Hood only took money from the rich. Luigi took life (allegedly), and scared the other rich folks enough to allow some life (healthcare) for the plebs for some short time.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 34 points 11 months ago

Accurate. And we need a great deal more robin hoods

[–] FabledAepitaph@lemmy.world 30 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Why do they put him in that bullet proof vest? To protect him from the police? Haha

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago

He needs to be assassinated, it's their only hope of maintaining terror.

If he gets through a trial the chances of a hung jury are pretty high, and that's proof the system isn't invincible.

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 18 points 11 months ago

The elite should rightly be terrified, and the only outcome that protects them is to drop the illusion of equality and create “green zones” where they are safe, like in other third world countries.

[–] shan23@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

The more they try and suppress him the more of a hero he appears

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

There is no lie.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It's a shame that the CEO is dead because he doesn't even get to know why he was murdered. He was just walking then dead. No time to think about what he did

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

More humane than decades on death row tbh.

[–] WickedPissah@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Absolutely! He got an easy out fah crissakes!

[–] TwoBeeSan@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

They've all internalized the rot. They think they do no wrong.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I don't think whoever did that knows the first thing about Robin Hood...
