Where I'm at, family can supercede a DNR. The rate of OHCA survival is so low anyway that it usually doesn't make a difference. Emotions are so high and so raw, even when it's an expected death, that I don't blame anyone for anything done or said at that time. It's been rare that I've seen it done- the most common reason for not following a DNR is that no one can find it. Second most is it was filled out incorrectly or not the actual official document.
You're not wrong. The parents chose not to vaccinate, and vaccines almost certainly would have prevented this outcome. Where I'm struggling is the "serves them right" attitude when it wasn't the parents who paid for their mistake- it was a small child with no say in the matter. It's possible to feel anger towards the parents (though it doesn't change anything at this point) and still have empathy for the actual victim.

Absolutely. 15-20 mls into an IV can mess you up. If it's a central line (like a jugular) it can be even less.
The bends are a different beast. I'd love to try diving someday!
I've always been taught that it takes more than 10 CC's to make an air embolism (IV), although looking it up it looks like that actual lethal amount is 3-5 cc/kg. That's a 10 cc syringe, with a blunt tip on it. Hopefully no one is actually getting that injected, but if they were it wouldn't be IV.
Edit: just looked at the article. It was the Lidocaine 100%. Lidocaine is an antiarrhythmic, at higher doses than local anesthetic.

I'm looking to build shelves beside my fireplace but need to trim my mantel width down to accomodate them.
I have access to a circular saw, a reciprocating saw and a jig saw. I could also get a router if needed.
This is from a diy website but they had this part done by a professional. I'm just curious how you would go about cutting this. What tools should I use?

I really like the way the green turned out. I used scrap yarn so the white was actually a 3 instead of everything else which was a 4, and only have a 3.50 hook. Overall, still in love.

I made this as a gift, but long story short I don't have the right yarn colours or the right sized hook or the right eyes. So I improvised. Hoping it still reads as the animal I intended!
Ps. The recipient knows my current status and why I can't procure the correct yarn, etc. They'll still appreciate it I'm sure.
