Fun fact! This beetle is illegal in Florida.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

Got dammit, when will they get these illegals out of here already?!?

Here's a super rare, cool, and interesting beetle!
*posts a super low quality image*

Here you go, since OP doesn't care about quality.

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Appreciate your images. But I don’t think that shade on OP was necessary lol.

[–] Psythik@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

The shade absolutely was necessary. This isn't reddit; have some standards.

The one tagged "female" was just a bottom view and they both look similiar? Is that the joke?

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No there's no joke. It's the same beetle, top and bottom. Split down the middle to be genetically male and female

[–] mexicancartel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Ohh ohh damn lol. Posting two pictures was extremely confusing given "left" and "right"

Reminds me of something I drew a while back.

I screwed up the equal length of the mandibles from the reference image. They look very similar to this bettle though. The body texture and shape is not quite right though.

Obviously beetles aren't smart enough to comprehend 5th grade science.

[–] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 34 points 1 year ago

They are turning the beetles Trans!!!!

Inter-sects

[–] allywilson@lemmy.ml 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's really interestng. I assume it's the left photo from above and the right photo from below.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gynandromorphism

Genuinely an interesting mutation, it's weird that it's listed as happening in Rodents but not other mammals? Is that just a numbers thing I wonder?

[–] burgersc12@mander.xyz 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Well, you can see where the legs connect on the right one, but not the left one, so yeah

Only one way to find out.

With this character's death, the threads of prophecy have been severed. You may load a saved game, or persist in this doomed world that you have created.

Yup..

As is usually the case, the left is very horny

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 6 points 1 year ago

I feel immensely awful for this guy

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

It must be annoying having mandibles different length like that.

[–] SpiceDealer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Look at you, in-in-insect!

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

A p-p-pathetic creature of protein and chitin.

[–] oxideseven@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

This is some Slaanesh shit!

[–] vane@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

So toilets are usually female - male but beetles are male - female to make circle - female symbol on toilet. Noted, from now on when I spot beetle I will compare it with toilet to figure out if it's male or female.

[–] digdilem@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

But which toilet does it use?!
