Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I guess once they figured he was cutting into Trump's vote more then Harris's they couldn't have him spoiling the wrong candidate.

Imagine giving up on being President to endorse a convicted felon.

Well, he* was never going to win

They had hoped he would siphon “anyone but Trump” voters off of Biden. But now they’re afraid he’ll siphon votes off of Trump and assume that no one who would vote for Harris would vote for RFK

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Something he and Nikki Haley have in common. Trump was happy to have her, despite earlier saying anyone who voted for her was permanently banned from MAGA, so really it’s the perfect match.

Imagine agreeing to become the sidekick to a man that you called "America's Hitler" just a few years prior.

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 years ago

"Hey, Hitler is making me money, guess I'm okay with him."

[–] ZagamTheVile@lemmy.world 31 points 2 years ago (2 children)

This isn't the real RFK Jr. The real one is being held captive. The imposter is trying to drop out and support trump. But the real one will be released upon winning the election and will then be sitting president. Keep the faith, spread the word, and vote RFK Jr! Don't believe the lies.

He's clearly working in partnership with his father, Vincent Fusca, and they plan to restore the Kennedy name once they take the White House back. This will break the curse, reset time, and transport us back to 1963 where it all began.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is the real Paul McCartney his running mate?

[–] Cort@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

No, zombie John Lennon

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 31 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That'll only make them even more weird than they already are.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 29 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"We're not weird! We've got the antivax brain worms guy on our side!"

[–] MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

"Everyone has a freezer filled with roadkill!"

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 years ago

"Collected during their falconry expeditions."

[–] ChowJeeBai@lemmy.world 26 points 2 years ago (2 children)

And in typical trump fashion, rfks probably not getting paid.

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 years ago

Trump's going to abandon RFK Jr. when he's no longer useful, just like RFK Jr. did with the dead bear cub in Central Park.

[–] ShepherdPie@midwest.social 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Behind the Bastards just did a 3 or 4 part series on him and he apparently had a recent call with Trump where a quid-pro-quo deal was discussed with him dropping out and winding up with a cabinet position (HHS?) for it.

Like on Veep and House of Cards!!!!!

[–] cygnus@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 years ago (4 children)

I like to imagine that the brain worm is piloting RFK's body like the mechas in Pacific Rim.

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 years ago

Or like the little alien guy inside the 'sugar water' guy's head in MIB

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 years ago

Or the mouse in Murphy's brain from that episode of Sealab 2021.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Don't be silly, you'd need TWO worms for that...

Can he drop out?

Kamala had to be nominated before the convention to make registration deadlines in Ohio.

Shouldn't RFK be stuck on the ballet? - at least in Ohio?

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 years ago

Shouldn't RFK be stuck on the ballet?

We all get stuck on ballet, standing on your toes is hard.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Is he even on the ballot in Ohio?

[–] Evilcoleslaw@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

If he's on any ballots he might well be stuck on them, but nothing stops him from ceasing to campaign and telling people to vote Trump.

Ofc some tiny fraction may still vote for him if they really want to.

[–] trslim@pawb.social 6 points 2 years ago

Fuck, my parents want to vote for this clown. I don't think my mom can stomach to vote for Trump, because of the reversal of Roe v Wade, but my dad might be dumb enough to do it. Fuuuuck...

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

god. what cabinet post was he promised. usually the big one is secretary of state. as if the first was not bad enough. trump pres, jd vice pres and jfk jr sec of state. I can't get this nightmare out of my head.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

According to John Oliver a few weeks ago, RFK himself suggested HHS. Which is absolutely horrifying and absolutely something I could see Trump doing.

[–] samokosik@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

Might have taken votes away from Trump, otherwise no.

[–] Marthirial@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Those 528 weirdos he is bringing will fit right in with the MAGA slush.

https://www.ipsos.com/en-us/whos-voting-robert-kennedy-jr

Who's voting for Robert Kennedy Jr.?

Who’s voting RFK? The demographic profile of RFK voters is fairly similar to the average American. There are no significant differences by race, age, or income, though RFK Jr. voters are slightly more likely to be women.

On the issues, RFK Jr. is a little all over the place. He previously ran as a Democratic candidate, but at the same time has embraced right-wing conspiracies about the COVID-19 vaccine. His supporters, too, are a bit scattered on the issues. For example, like Republicans, they are more likely to view immigration as a top issue, but like Democrats, are more likely to view climate change and abortion as top issues.

Hmm.

According to this:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1422275/robert-f-kennedy-jr-favorability-age-us/

He polls best with people 30-44.

Gonna need you to expand on the roadkill/van bit

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

If he doesn't Trump loses very likely so it happens.
