Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

JD Vance pullout? Surprise surprise

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 30 points 2 years ago

He's usually partial to hide-a-beds but I could see him interested in pullouts too.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 54 points 2 years ago (2 children)

he's probably hiding between his lover's cushions.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 28 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I hear he's been cheating on it with a futon.

Glue a small, gray pearl at the top in the center fold. Perfection.

(There's a tip in there for some of you guys. If you can find it.)

[–] A_cook_not_a_chef@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Like he would even pay attention to it 🙄

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

When's he going to settle down with a nice chesterfield from a good home?

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

Yeah, it's a guy from the ottoman empire

[–] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Maybe James Vance will find the courage to debate Walz if he shows up as the always fabulous Sofa Lauren.

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I thought we all agreed on Anita Cushion

[–] Shlocktroffit@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wait until everyone hears about Chester Field, his Canadian fling

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Ok enough with all these transgendered names… we all know he’s a hetero-sectional.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 years ago

The credits listed him as Chase Long

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I don't know, I heard he practices Hung Futon

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 34 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Ok, yeah, looks like article was updated after OP posted. Kind of shitty the author didn’t explicitly state that in the article, especially since they changed the headline.

JD Vance finally commits to two VP debates with CBS and CNN against Tim Walz

JD Vance initially refused to commit to a debate – in a move that echoed his running mate Donald Trump’s back-and-forth with Kamala Harris

Well at least maybe we’re going to get the debate now!

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 23 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Maybe JD knows he will replaced by then?

[–] schema@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I thought it's too late for that now.

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Let's hope candidate shuffling isn't a new trend.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Let's hope it is. There's no reason to be campaigning for 2 years prior to the election if the candidates might change anyway.

[–] NielsBohron@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It doesn't mean the campaigning will be shorter, just that everything will further turn into attack ads on incumbents

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 years ago

How well did that work out for them this time? Trump was whining about all the attack ads they did on the incumbent.

[–] IonAddis@lemmy.world 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I finally realized this guy's name reminds me of some in house menswear brand at Sears or K-Mart or some other department store that suffered and wheezed and whimpered before going out of business.

JD Vance Suspenders for Men & Boys

[–] dezmd@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Just agree to have couches for each debater.

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

No, then Vance will become a master debater

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

Just schedule the debate, and have something like this ready for if he no-shows:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/28/world/europe/ice-sculpture-uk-debate.html

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Oh he doesn't want to get smacked down by smaj.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Both Trump and Vance are scared of words!

[–] DarkDecay@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

But only because they don't understand them

[–] PaulieDied@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

But… the article says he did commit?

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Article has since been updated.

[–] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world -5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Did you not read the article?

[–] sxan@midwest.social 4 points 2 years ago

I did. The article is a shit show of confusing timelines, but the very first paragraph says:

JD Vance has finally committed to two vice presidential debates on CBS News and CNN against his Democratic rival Tim Walz.

That's the least ambiguously worded sentence in that piece, and it says he's agreed to them.

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

I just heard JD Vance campaign will only agree to the debate if it takes place in a Brown Squirrel Furniture.... For reasons.
