I'm not really a Steely Dan fan, so I had no idea. That's a great piece of music trivia!

Underrated comment right here

There is a more wide-ranging playlist curated by Spotify (just called Southern Gothic), but my own playlist skews a little heavier and with significant doom-metal and country/folk influence

What kind of fool? The fool on the hill

Connection: the lyrics reference "Kid Charlemagne":

And I'm mad at the sidewalk

I'm mad at the rain

I'm mad at the band that played Kid Charlemagne

In a bar in the village

And the solo fucked all to hell

And you could tell

Supertramp made me think of "Born to Run" with the line ""tramps like us, baby we were born to run." That line is referenced many times by many different artists, but my favorite reference is in this song, which turns the line into "tramps like us and we like tramps"

Turn down for what?

So sayeth Little Jon the Wise, Prophet of the Crunk.

A light in the darkness; his sage words bring hope in harsh times and bring booties to shake like amphorae filled with salt.

The most based Burzum fan.

Great connection, and "Bad Things" is a criminally underrated song

Connection: "Bad Things" and "Magnolia Blues" are both in one of my favorite niche subgenres, Southern Gothic. Classic blues instrumentation and vocals with dark, unsettling lyrics and chords.

I've got a whole playlist of anyone wants more suggestions in the occult folk/satanic blues/Southern Gothic vein.

Connection: wayward. It's the obvious choice, but how often do you get a chance to link a Kansas song?

I don't even ever get the physical withdrawals or any noticeable effects, regardless of how often I do or don't drink it. So, since my partner really does need the coffee first thing in the morning and I'm making it anyway, I usually have a cup because I like the taste and ritual. But when she's out of town or getting coffee elsewhere, I hardly ever have any caffeine.

The exception is when I was taking Adderall every day, I really did feel some effects from the caffeine, mostly potentiating the amphetamine. I do miss that aspect of being medicated

He pardoned the conscientious objectors and draft dodgers, gave the Panama Canal back to Panama, founded the Super Fund to prosecute polluters and clean up spills, lifted the military ban on LGBTQ people serving, etc. Sure, he made some mistakes, particularly as it applies to deregulating numerous industries, but in general, he was reasonably close to progressive in numerous ways.

Made well I enjoy the taste, but it's ever been good at keeping me awake or making me productive.

Same. I eventually figured out that this is likely a symptom of my adult ADHD, and I either need unhealthy amounts of coffee or something a little stronger

A strong argument could be made for FDR's government at least making steps toward leftist goals, and Jimmy Carter was a lot more progressive than a typical liberal.

Is that a Stanisław Lem reference in the wild? Will wonders never cease...
