Savannah Sparks, who has 1.3 million followers [...] added that, rather than sleuthing, her community has “concepts of thoughts and prayers. It’s, you know, claim denied on my prayers there,”

In a statement, Thompson’s family said he was “an incredibly loving father” to two sons and “will be greatly missed.”

He wasn't missed by one person.

[–] Disaster@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 years ago

Easy to be loving to your inner circle when you have millions provided by killing other people's kids.

[–] allo@sh.itjust.works 31 points 2 years ago (3 children)

How long you think until the next revolutionary killing inspired by this one?

[–] Eezyville@sh.itjust.works 26 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (6 children)

People get killed everyday. I don't condone it but I'm also not gonna act like I got the moral high ground and lecture. Now these companies are gonna take measures to protect themselves and their family. But all it takes is one really motivated individual with nothing more to loose.

I’m glad my job doesn't make me wonder if someone might try to kill me because of it.

I guess you're not creative enough. You never know when a crazy ex-coworker will go postal.

[–] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 1 points 2 years ago

No no, nothing else he has is loose.

We all have loose screws for not doing it

To paraphrase the IRA:

We got lucky today. Thing is we can be unlucky most days. They have to be lucky every day.

[–] Quexotic@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Too bad this society made hundreds of millions of people with nothing to lose. It's a shame, really.

[–] nomous@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Good thing people can't just go to the local grocery store and buy a rifle off the shelf capable of accurate shots hundreds of meters away with pretty much no background checks at all.

[–] almost1337@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

I mean, they already hire corporate security, just slightly more frequently for now. But the expense won't remain as justified as the memory of the killing fades.

I give it a month. It'll be some pro-choice person killed by a pro-birth person.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

yeah this is my only real fear, the slaying will embolden chuds to attack anyone citing this murder as their excuse.

[–] AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 years ago

I hope before EOY. Keeping them close together will really stoke fear into them.

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 31 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Eat the rich. I'll say "OM!" and then you say "NOM! NOM! NOM!"

OM!

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

NOM NOM NOM

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Out of the palace, and into the ditch!

[–] SynopsisTantilize@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lol like the roblox default "Om Nom Nom" sound.

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

More inspired by cookie monster, which is probably the OG.

[–] SynopsisTantilize@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Oh fair enough.

The Network Contagion Research Institute studies the spread of hostile ideological content. From an article linked in this article:

“We’ve identified highly engaged posts circulating the names of other healthcare CEOs and others celebrating the shooter," he said. "The framing of this incident as some opening blow in a class war and not a brutal murder is especially alarming.”

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 years ago

The framing of this incident as some opening blow in a class war is reflective of the feelings of the working class for some time now.

Here's a neat graph

The fact that we're only just now getting heads rolling is honestly surprising

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 25 points 2 years ago

Alarming if you know you'd be in the firing line, in which case you have plenty of money with which to retire and do something good instead. The choice is yours.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

it's only a class war if they start fighting back and they're fucking outnumbered

[–] gaael@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

They have always been fighting, we are the ones who need to be fighting back. And looks like maybe someone just did (except if the killer is a contract killer hired by another rich waste of space).

[–] LANIK2000@lemmy.world 27 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh I see. It's the America equivalent of a UK person upon seeing a shoplifter going "I didn't see nothing officer".

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Took us long enough. We're clearly a bunch of wankers.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I have already identified that he has made it to the middle of russia and putin is sheltering him. Im not afraid to help the man in his time of need.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I have it on good authority that someone matching his description got on a boat and sailed for the south pacific.

[–] fsxylo@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hope this becomes the opposite of the Brock turner meme where we don't use their name even if they get caught.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Rapist Brock Allen Turner has been going by Allen to escape people knowing who he is.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

I heard he was spotted in the middle of the Darién Gap. They should hurry and start a manhunt for him in that area.

"tl;dr rather help find targets"

[–] dumbass@leminal.space 11 points 2 years ago

Hey you guys seem good at solving things, could you help us with this?

Tiktok sleuths: Nope, Fuck him!

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 11 points 2 years ago

Good. The CEO was making the world worse. I hope the shooter is never caught. And if they are, I hope the jury nullifies.

[–] narr1@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 years ago

Good. Now, on to the next target.

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Too bad, so sad. I guess they'll just have to declare the case cold and file it.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Oh no! Not the top internet sleuths! :O
