Joe's aside, let us not forget that many of these people voted blue through gritted teeth in direct opposition to Trump. Those people will not appreciate being called a liberal for their votes. They will 100% go back red on the next election if and when Trump and his cronies are not on the ballot, unless the Dems can take advantage of this situation and show some actual fucking leadership and demonstrate why their choose was a good one. This is not a time for complacency. We won a lap, not the whole race.

Texas for brisket, sausage. KC for ribs. NC for pork.

[–] Euler_eix@lemmy.world 1 points 31 minutes ago

Ah this is the correct answer

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 37 minutes ago

I'll take Texas or Kansas, but that NC BBQ with that salad dressing for sauce is some weak-ass shit. Come up with some good sauce, or find another game.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 1 points 1 hour ago

On a business trip I once had a group of burly Texas oilmen all agree that the brisket at the “DC area chain restaurant” was the best they’d had.

Which was … pretty fucking funny tbh.

For the next decade they all tried to find a better joint in Houston.

I don’t even like brisket that much.

[–] Euler_eix@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

It's Kansas, but only one place in Kansas. The rest suck ass.

Anthony Bourdain agrees: https://www.foodrepublic.com/1582674/anthony-bourdain-favorite-barbecue-kansas-city/

Kansas side or Missouri side?

[–] Euler_eix@lemmy.world 1 points 32 minutes ago

Original location is on the Missouri side, but just barely. They have many locations on the Kansas side now though. I suppose it's more a Kansas City, both states, thing

[–] sartalon@lemmy.world 24 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Nothing beats a good Texas brisket.

Kansas city is just sauce. It should be called casserole, not bbq.

NC sauce makes their bbq inedible, so I I am not sure how good their meat is.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago

I am upset at your description of Kansas City style but cannot disagree.

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 6 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

I know I'm biased, but Texas all day every day.

That said, I do love me some vinegar sauce

[–] protist@retrofed.com 15 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Central Texas oak-smoked brisket is the best BBQ that exists

[–] subverted_per@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 14 hours ago

If you need sauce to cover the meat, you did it wrong.

[–] skooma_king@piefed.social 11 points 16 hours ago

Eastern NC style

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Whichever one has the best burnt ends.

[–] thagoat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I like how Texas still gets no love. Bless your heart.

[–] fu@libranet.de 3 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Texas 100%

Nobody else had any business doing brisket

[–] potatomuncher@lemmy.ca 1 points 19 minutes ago

Even though humans have been doing bbq and eating cows long before Texas existed or cows arrived in North America?

[–] Garfunkel@lemmy.ca 0 points 7 hours ago

Why liberal? Liberalism is a doctrine of personal freedoms. Leftist is probably the right word

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 1 points 10 hours ago

COMIN ATCHA LIKE A TOMAHAWK

[–] milkisklim@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

What about SC mustard base?

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 7 points 17 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Psionicsickness@reddthat.com 3 points 16 hours ago

This is the answer.

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 5 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Pffft. Ain't nobody saying Kansas no matter how they vote.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 hours ago

Hey, I'm from Kansas!

...Texas wins this debate hands down lmao

[–] MrWrinkles@leminal.space 5 points 17 hours ago

daaaauuum lol

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 3 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

In what sense?

NC BBQ (meat prep etc.) beats the rest, but their BBQ sauce is meh.

[–] faythofdragons@piefed.social 11 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I'll take your vinegar BBQ sauce, if you don't want it

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 0 points 34 minutes ago

That's not sauce, that's salad dressing.

[–] D_Tom@lemmy.world 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

We don't use "sauce". It's just vinegar and peppers. Western NC has red slaw. That's the only difference.

Texas isn't even BBQ, it's the wrong animal. But we aren't ready for that talk.

[–] sartalon@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Texas isn't even BBQ, it's the wrong animal.

You just invalidated any opinion you may have on bbq.

Just because white trash hillbilles from SC to Tennessee couldn't afford to bbq beef, they think bbq can only be pig.

You could have said, "Traditionally, we consider that bbq just means pork.", but to truly gatekeep the meat!?

That's some ignorant shit right there. That's the kind of mentality that would still have us eating boiled potates with no salt. Just because some peckerwood grandpa Jeb only bbq'd pork (because that's all he had), is the dumbest reason to say you can only bbq pork.

This is an even dumber stance than the beans/no beans in chili arguments.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 32 minutes ago

Of course the pig farmer wants BBQ to be pork, and beef farmer wants BBQ to be beef, and the chicken farmer wants BBQ to be chicken.

They don't make the rules, they just raise the BBQ. We'll smoke whatever we want.

[–] PwnTra1n@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

If their meat prep was worth a shit they wouldn’t need sauce anyway.

[–] PetDinosaurs@lemmy.world 6 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I've always heard this from inferior BBQ styles.

NC has a "whole hog" style, but the sauces are the real difference.

Eastern NC is vinegar and peppers. Western NC is vinegar and peppers and ketchup. South Carolina is vinegar and peppers and mustard.

You see the difference? That's why NC has an official Eastern and Western style whole hog bbq.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 0 points 30 minutes ago

The problem is the vinegar. That's not BBQ sauce, it's salad dressing.

[–] newbeni@lemmy.world -2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

KC hands down, Wyandot is the best I've ever had and I've been on this planet for a while.

[–] tacosanonymous@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 17 hours ago (1 children)
[–] sartalon@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (2 children)

It's not fucking bbq. It's slow cooker casserole bullshit!

And they eat their chili, poured over a cinnamon roll...

There is something fundamentally wrong with that state.

[–] potatomuncher@lemmy.ca 1 points 15 minutes ago

Chili on cinnamon roll sounds nice.

Bbq is slow cooked meat. It's probably the oldest cooking technique that humans have been using since we became uppity and snobby enough to turn our nose at bleeding, raw meat.

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 3 points 16 hours ago

So much so that they created a show about a football coach from Kansas who goes on to coach real football in the UK. Even then they only managed to promote how good the sauce is.
