Of all the things I try to sketch on, the phone is the worst. Paper and pencil or Bic pen is the way. Easy to see progress in a sketchbook. Then take pics with the phone. 📷 Also, Krita is the best!
I have different sets of headphones for home and travel. I can't recommend any noise canceling in transit as I value situational awareness. I really love my Koss utility headphones. At home I still have big open-back cans so I can hear loud knocking or my family. I can't tell the difference between my old $100 Sennheisers and my $50 Samson SR850, bit I'm almost 50yo. I would look for whatever open-back cans have aftermarket earpads.
Someone where I work drives in a modified Charger that makes popcorn when he decelerates, loudly. That's the only science that matters where I live.

Notable that they don't touch on spanking young ones and raising your voice. Which was "common sense" when I grew up and still is in many communities. Doesn't lead to good outcomes, from my experience.
