You stupid AMERICANS and your HIGHWAYS. Good thing no other country uses highways! Now I can feel morally superior for being born elsewhere!

These are the people I have to share a bus with*

(While you are dependent on others' visual processing to be safe on a highway, you're dependent on others' hygiene to be safe in public transit).

The smell of the Tube in the summer makes me grateful not to live in London, even people without BO issues smell down there. One can easily mistake it for hell since it's underground, very hot, very smelly, filled to the brim with the damned, and there's nothing to do but reflect on your sins.

Now, get up and walk around outside. Notice how objects become larger the closer you get to them! You have the power to make things change size!!

How can the sun be so hot when it's so small?!

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 days ago

Alternative explanation: weed-filled ravioli.

Put on your glasses: that’s a cat

[–] aeiou@piefed.social 14 points 3 days ago

random memory unlocked: In highschool I overheard someone chewing another guy out for almost running him over on the way in. Other dude, obviously stoned out of his gourd, managed "bro sorry I thought you was a bush" before collapsing into a giggle fit

[–] Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Curious about the driving without glasses thing. Here in Brazil that would count as admitting an additional violation. How does that work in other countries?

Here your driving license states if you need glasses to drive and you must wear them if it says so. If it doesn't say anything and you're caught driving with glasses, that's also a violation.

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In the USA, but this is actually mostly state by state, if one's license says they must wear glasses, then they must do so, or risk penalties of some sort. (It mostly doesn't come up in the media.) If the license doesn't say anything, then anything goes. Some borderline glasses wearers take the vision test, which is a super simplified test (If one cannot pass the driving vision test then the test taker has horrible vision.), without glasses just to not have to delay driving due to misplaced glasses.

To go further, in the USA, the Drivers License tests establish a very low floor. Obtaining it does not mean one is good at driving, but NOT obtaining it within 3 tries means that person SHOULD NOT be driving. They are a danger to all.

Here in California I have a little marker saying I need glasses, literally told the DMV worker to just fail my ass and give me the mark cause I can't see my monitor while sitting at my desk. Anyways they still had me attempt the damned thing without the portable ballistic glass I call eye water, couldn't see shit on the second row.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 4 points 3 days ago

Definitely works like that in Germany, too.

[–] Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf 2 points 2 days ago

That cat just ate a gnome.

[–] SalamenceFury@piefed.social 12 points 3 days ago

This is why driving while stoned counts as a DUI, kids.

[–] diaphragmwp@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 days ago

The screenshot of a screenshot was a shitpost.
