Sometimes the kind of crap done by people who are selfish wankers is just that - crap - not a cry for help.

Certainly in my personal experience people who haven't actually grown up as persons to become mature adults don't actually see the problems that they repeateadly get into with everybody else because of having the emotional complexity and impulse control of toddlers as their fault, but rather as the fault of others.

There's no cry for help in their actions because they don't think they need help.

Ironic Twist:

  • It's a Journey Of The Hero story and this part was just the initial fall of the Hero.

Hard-right even.

Were I live, Portugal, the policies of the Democrat Party are closest to those of a local party called Iniciativa Liberal (Liberal Initiative) who are considered Far-Right ultra Neoliberal (and were started by people with A LOT of money rather than being a naturally growing movement).

In most of Europe the mainstream parties (whether they used to be center-left or center-right) nowadays are Neoliberal, but the version of that ideology of the US Democract Party is harder than even the old center-right mainstream in Europe (which is how even an EU under a majority of the EPP - which are the EU level group of such parties - is still a lot more pro-consumer than the Democrats, though things have been getting worse).

It's a great way of doing something that was already done a thousand times and which will never need to be supported or improved on.

The very opposite of the kind of software that's either need in a company large enough to need in-house development or whose business model is software products or services.

Curiously, Germany uncondicionally supports this war criminal.

I've lived in a couple of countries in Europe, including The Netherlands.

The Netherlands is extremely Neoliberal and has been for decades now - politicians there would NEVER have the government own more stuff, no matter how much good that could do for the population in general.

The entire system is setup to amplify the power of Money and the single biggest form of Discrimination out there as measured by the Hurt and Harm it causes is Wealth Discrimination.

This shit is not an unexpected flaw of this system, it's a desired feature by those who have been shaping it over the years.

It's either:

  • There's a big fat online conspiracy to deter people from voting in the US even though voting in the US is the thing that truly determines how the country is ruled and other things such as Money, have no or minimal influence in how the US is managed.
  • First Past The Post undemocratic voting systems like the one in America create political duopolies, which are populated by people in well entrenched power positions who when not in front of the cameras are basically work mates and protect each other. Further, the extreme political stability of such system attracts people who become lifers in that system, selling their political influence to the highest bidder in order to enrich themselves, and the politicians of both facets of the duopoly have a shared interest that such selling out is either not illegal at all or, when illegal, de facto not prosecuted, so together they'll change laws and nominate the "appropriate" people to the Judicial system to make sure it is so.

The idea that the Ottoman Empire wasn't imperialist, is hilarious.

The Ottoman's Empire objection to Western imperialism was the self-serving desire of not being a target of it themselves or losing influence in the region.

Going back to my point, most in the region aren't against imperialism in general, they're only against they themselves being the victims of it, which in recent History means being against Western Imperialism, though there has been plenty of Imperialism going on both from nations in that region against other nations there and further afar and from nations from elsewhere than Europe against nations there - after all, the Fertile Crescent (which covers an area were several of the modern nations in that region are) is one of the Cradles Of Civilization so it's hard to find an area of the World more fought over than that.

Being "against the outsiders trying to take our stuff" isn't the kind of unity of purpose that lasts beyond the point when the outsiders stop or are forced to stop trying to take your stuff.

But hey, if you need more indications of that, just look at the 19th and early 20th centuries in the region: it wasn't exactly hard for the British to deploy their usual Divide And Conquer strategy in the region and take over most of the place, the very period you describe as "unified while simultaneously containing multitudes of ethnicities".

More broadly, evidence that the region has no greater tendency for unity than anywhere else in the World can be found in its long History of empires rising and then breaking up and falling there - surely if the Middle East had such a great tendency for unity it wouldn't have literally thousands of years of History of whenever unified or close to it. breaking up into competing groups.

Mind you, I'm not at all against the idea of the region becoming more unified and stopping Western imperialists (or their successors, which will likely be China) from continuing to pillage the region, I just thing that expecting to happen naturally if there was no White Jewish Supremacist nation is Hope rather than a hard nosed look at the Historical record of the region.

So apparently for lemmy.world mods pointing out that the word "anti-semite" is far more used than "antigypsyism, anti-Romanyism, antiziganism, ziganophobia, or Romaphobia” even though the Nazis targetted both Jews and Roma in the Holocaust, is, somehow, "Criticizing Jewish people as a whole".

Or maybe it's the whole "I don't care about any one specific race, I care about people and think it's always unjusct when people are treated differently based on things they were born with, such as race" that was deemed "Criticizing Jewish people as a whole".

Good old lemmy.world: they were called on it repeatedly so eventually walked back on the whole "criticizing Israel is anti-semitic" but apparently if you don't go along with the view that racism against a very specific group is much worse than racism against people from other groups, then you must be against that specific ethnic group.

My comment in text for reference:

All clearly as frequently used as "anti-semitism" /s

And yeah, I don't care about race, any race, I care about people, which includes that they're not unjustly treated for things that were not their choice, such as the race they were born into.

It's Racists who feel the need to care about a race or races, defending things for some races which they do noit defend for others, doing little performances about how others must care about those races too and that those who don't "are against those races" - for them race comes first, defining a person and dictating how they should be treated.

For Humanists race is something that should be of as little importance to how somebody is treated as the color of their eyes or how tall they are, and yet they see again and again race weponized by Racists to treat people differently even though those people haven't actually earned such treatment through their actions: in other words race fro Humanists is something that should be irrelevant yet has been turned by others into a pivot for injustice.

It's pretty obvious from your little performance which one you are
