OP, Please mark this post as NSFW.

Maybe this is what they live for. They know their purpose and they love their people just like Woody loves Andy.

Imagine a movie plot where Sarah moves to a new state and forgets her vibrator collection. She doesn’t realize it yet but all the vibrators team up to embark on a madcap adventure to reunite with Sarah. On the way they they find a sad discarded buttplug with no owner and they bring him into the gang only to find out that he used to belong to Sarah’s lesbian lover who she’s moving to be with.

That's poetry. Slimy poetry but poetry nonetheless.

That movie would include a lot of Buzz

You got a friend in me...

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 21 points 6 days ago

I mean, a lot of names could be reused:

Buzz, Woody, Rex, Bullseye, Lotso, Mr. Pricklepants... I'm gonna stop now, I'm ruining my own childhood.

The premise of the question horrified me, you made it better. Thank you.

[–] Kushan@lemmy.world 30 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Honestly that does explain why the vibrators batteries always seem to be depleted.

Well, as far as I remember, the real toys liked being played with, and were even sad when they weren’t played with. So… theoretically sex dolls would also like being “played” with

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 53 points 6 days ago (1 children)

They like being used for what they were designed for. Playing or 'playing'

However, Sid's toys were plenty played with and they were constantly traumatized.

Because I hate the implication I have just created new head canon for my own sake. It’s the power of a child imagination and play that brings the toys to life. That’s why the fork comes to life in the fourth movie

So if a child found one abandoned and somehow innocently played with it enough then it would come to life but when used for an adults self-gratification it would not have the requisite for life.

I will not be taking questions on the plothole of why new in box toys are alive

They were all made in sweatshops by children, no plot hole. ☹️

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 6 days ago

For a less bleak answer, they're powered by kids wandering through the toy store amazed at all the rows.

are you implying that childlike wonder and spirit dies the moment hormones makes a kid horny for the first time?

this comment is gonna look really bad in my profile history but i feel like sex dolls actually like it. much like how toys in the toy story universe want to be played with, sex dolls want to be raped

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (3 children)

sex dolls want to be raped

Wouldn't that be not rape?

[–] tixnou@feddit.cl 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

honestly my reasoning was kinda like: a person that cannot move nor speak nor express anything, just cannot consent even if they like it.

a sentient sex doll is kinda similar to that so it might be rape but idk. i really like Zozano's reply though.

The toys are shown to literally hallucinate whatever fantasy is being imagined. So whether it's consensual or not depends on what the user imagines it is.

It is toy story cannon that the toys like being played with. It's what they were made for. The same logic should work for other dolls.

The fact that Ms Peep has sexuality as a non-sex toy would suggest that the toys can be horny. So the sex dolls may not just be ok with it. They might be extremely into it.

Also, who uses a sex doll every day? I don't use mine every day. You all have problems.

No. They don't exist. The universe does not contain them. This is a wholesome story with a strong emphasis on the word story. A story can be whatever you want but the intention was probably not to create a universe in which toys are sentient unknown to their makes and in which they are tortured through rape. You can imagine that if you want but it is surely not the artists intent.

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 30 points 5 days ago (4 children)

There are army guys, so there is war, violence, death and murder. Their world is not that wholesome.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Remember what the MPAA says; Horrific, Deplorable violence is okay, as long as people don't say any naughty woids!

In that universe, all toys are willing to be that they are ; and to be played with the way they were supposed to be by their designer...

I recall a comic strip from WAYYYYY back where the joke was that a fairy brought a sex doll to life Pinocchio style and the sex doll immediately hung herself. She was a recurring character, because she was functionally immortal though. I think the strip was called "Sexy Loosers"
N/M, Found it. VERY NSFW, Obviously

The existence of Forky means almost certainly yes. Apparently, using any object for entertainment in some fashion makes it capable of becoming sapient. This creates a lot of potential fridge horror scenarios.

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 21 points 6 days ago

This question is 100% valid, but I really don’t want to think about it

[–] Berlinblades@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Dont Toy Story toys want to be played with, and get sad If they are in the shelf? Id imagine it's the same in the adult realm.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 22 points 6 days ago (4 children)

One reading would be that there is no sex in the Toy Story universe, because Toy Story is essentially a classic story about magic which disappears at the end of childhood/onset of adolescence, only remade as a CGI demo.

Of course, that narrative is from an earlier time, when childish things were put aside, and before “adulting” became a word. These days, a Toy Story universe would presumably have a red-light district full of sentient sex toys, though it would have to be an off-brand one, as Disney still own the IP and would never sign off on anything like that.
