I assume he doesn't think this should be paired with ramping up public transit options and bike and pedestrian friendly infrastructure

And that’s basically it!
no, thats evil socialist communism, you unamerican traitor! /s
Right wing "solutions" to difficulties are always insincere, unreasonable nonsense like this.
Can't pay your bills? Eat less! Can't afford medical care? Shouldn't have been unhealthy! Gas prices killing you? Drive less! Depressed and burned out? Just be happy and work harder! You think billionaires are greedy? Well what charities are you giving to!? Tired of capitalist exploitation? Stop buying stuff and go live in the woods! You love immigrants? Well then let them all live in your home!
Victim blaming dressed up as rugged individualism. Meanwhile those actually responsible for the hardships get off scot-free.
And meanwhile, here in the UK, the average is $8.40 per US gallon at the current exchange rate.
Yeah you stupid pay pigs, don't you know economics!? Supply and demand! Just stop demanding the resource we spent decades making indispensable and kept artificially scarce!
Sounds like they're having one of their periodic contests to see who can be the worst cunt in public.
They'll never catch the frontrunner
as a strong believer in the fuckcars movement (and as a car fucker myself), I concur
Now if people only had a choice to live in evil "15min cities" where distances are much shorter and feasible alternatives to driving are available and affordable, they actually could do that, without quality of life collapsing. Oh wait, having a non miserable life is no criterion for this administration, then forget that socialist 15 min nonsense, just drive less.
I'm living in one, or at least the 15-minute part of one. Small city in southwest England. I drive about once a week, to go out to the countryside to hike and visit a pub. Everything else is done on foot or on a bicycle. Highly recommended, despite it being totally evil. My MAGA relatives fear that I'm living in some hellish dystopia and it's only a matter of weeks before I'll be shot if I try to leave the city limits. They're already spun up enough that I don't own a gun and that I get my medical treatment on the NHS (which is under stress nationally, but still works well where I live). "Death panels," y'know...
Now, if only the locals could figure out how to make decent Mexican food, I'd be perfectly content.

Eating less will solve food prices a bit. Just not eating will solve it entirely. And sleeping outside under a bush or in a nice box solves your housing issues. With all your problems solved we'll be looking for you to work some longer hours.
Oh, look at Money Bags over here with their "nice box".
Now we see the violence inherent in the system!
So we should expect the health department to suggest Breatharianism soon?
Wait until he figures out that wfh is a great way to reduce driving
The fact that more employers haven't jumped at WFH is so telling. It's basically equivalent to an increase in salary, an improvement in employee work life balance, and a wider recruitment pool all wrapped into one without them actually having to do anything, except maybe spend LESS money on overhead.
It's something we could easily change to improve the lives of everyone and help the environment. I'm really disappointed we're not seeing more support for it.
Its because a massive amount of our real estate economy is propped up by artificially inflated office space which would kneecap a ton of corporate and REIT profits if they were to go down to actually affordable costs.
I can't think of many groups more richly deserving financial ruin.
Yo, fucker. We don't want lower gas prices. Keep them high.
We can't afford the cost of low gas prices.
If Dems said that before the '24 election, to eat less food and drive less to save money, everyone would go mad lol, but this magafool says it and they cool with it.
Vice-versa too in some communities.
"Poison air? Have you tried breathing less?"
Your kids got raped by Epsteins clients? Have more kids and your average kid/rape ratio will go down for every new kid your produce. Probably.
Says the same group that said they lowered COVID rates by not reporting them
Adds another lane: drive less!
Stops construction of another public transport project: Drive Less!!
Removes solar power and electric car subsidies: DRIVE Less!
Makes electric bikes illegal: DRIVE LESS!
(Party of freedom, btw)
If it were a dem saying this maga would be crying tyranny like they did with masks during covid.
The trick to having less fascists in control is to eliminate fascists.
I don't understand why the generation that snacked on lead paint chips is allowed to be in charge of this country.
Great suggestion! The US has great public transit /s… wait… no…
I bet the trick to lowering health care costs is to need health care less, too.
These people literally don't understand economics beyond the absolute basics of supply and demand.
Build trolleys and trains you fuckers
Then you wind up with this problem

Sounds great! I look forward to your heavy federal investment into mass transit
Driving less? The hell with that. I'm not going to drive at all. I'll be saving all the gas money!

Hope all the miserable assholes who voted for stopping electrification feel it in every part of them. I hope they have to give up on real, meaningful life dreams forever because they are now unaffordable. And I hope their houses specifically burn down in the wildfires the CO2 from their gasoline made so common.
I am beyond done with this gasoline bullshit.
They are also encouraging auto makers to lower gas mileage. Keep bragging how awesome oil company stocks, and dependant US allies, are thanks to Iran war.
Well we would, if your stupid administration hadn't cut telework for feds.
Stupid stupid stupid.
