Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
๐ Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
๐๏ธ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
๐งฌ Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
๐ฝ๏ธ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
๐ Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
โ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
โ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
๐ฌ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 ๐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 ๐) will be removed.
-
๐ดโโ ๏ธ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
Sรญ, por favor [Spanish/Espaรฑol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

๐ฟ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
- GPrime85
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

sure hope this doesn't awaken any fantasies in me
I'd be ok with this.
...in me? thanks
Either or.
I'm not in any way trans...
I would volunteer so fast.
Idk about the backpain, I would love having a girl's play button though ๐ค
That can be arranged... ๐
And all the nerve ending ๐
Eh. I can't complain about the results. Feels fine! ๐
Can always become a bodhisattva yourself!
I am actually Buddhist... So kinda working on it. Didnt realize Dolly Parton's chest was also such an easy way to get there.
At that point you'd be best leaning into it and just going for it.
I think that the lean comes from being top heavy.
How it felt turning 40
You got yourself some big fake titties for your 40th birthday? Congrats on the tits
Nope, just flabby moobs
Just big ol fried eggs nailed to a wall up here.
I suddenly have so much more respect for Graniel. ๐ค
More than 2 or 3 memes about someone I never heard in life... Do i need to go research who she is? ๐ฎโ๐จ
You probably should. Even if you're not a fan of her music, she was an icon of kindness, compassion, and tolerance; you would be hard pressed to find anyone who had anything negative to say about her. Not to mention her charm and sense of humor.
and a true embodiment of the Appalachian fun gay aunt archetype. i know she was cishet, but the fun gay aunt is an archetype, not a stock character
I heard she was a centrist when it came to Trump
The only person you will hear that from is turnip.
I do wish she had been more outspoken, but her actions spoke loud enough. Dolly has always a force for good and compassion, and the things she supported were incompatible with the hate that so many politicians dedicate themselves to.
Not really. She just refused to speak publicly about politics in general, except when it came to support for marginalized groups. So she had immense support for the gay and trans community, the black community, women, minorities, et cetera. You can infer her politics from that, but she often refused to speak about individual politicians, and did not throw her weight behind political campaigns. In a very big way, this has helped to push many towards tolerance and compassion, and the political figures that go with that.
For instance, saying "I support gay marriage," effectively told people which party she voted for, but by refusing to name the party or the politician, she gave many of her fans a way to realize their own voting habits might be misaligned, without the immediate, unthinking backlash and reactionary results of saying "I am voting for the Democrat"
From her very outspoken support of the groups she supported, it's almost impossible not to tell that she was left of center.
She was an amazingly compassionate woman. You don't need to be a fan of her music to respect her as a human being. She was a giant. She radiated warmth and kindness, and the world is a little smaller and darker without her in it.
She grew up extremely poor in the mountains of Tennessee, and worked very hard to become a successful country singer. She had a long-running campaign, sending free children's books to elementary school libraries, and she was helping lead the charge on AIDS research funding and public awareness during the AIDS crisis. Had a famously good lemon pudding recipe.
Fun fact, Dolly the Cloned Sheep was named after her. (Well... named after her boobs, since Dolly was cloned from the mammary cells of her donor). Dolly Parton apparently found that absolutely hilarious.
You've never heard of Dolly Parton? May I ask what continent you live on?
It might come as a shock, but being USian is not a requirement on the Internet
Lies! America is the only real place and everywhere else is made up. Everything on the Internet is true. Wait...
Not the person you replied to, but Europe. I have heard of her, but very vaguely. Definitely had to look her up when the news broke.
They could also just be very young.
Europe, I'm not young lol
Never saw or heard about her, at least nothing comes to mind besides the memes from last week.
I don't see much news of her here in Japan, so I doubt anyone would know about her or her death. I only know because of my Canadian upbringing (and I'm old).
Lindsey Ellis just did a video on her, I recommend it - you're the target audience.
