Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The warning came as Trump leaves a trail of destruction in Washington, demolishing the White House East Wing to make way for a $600m ballroom and ordering a renovation of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool that resulted in algae blooms and a peeling liner.

The court filing represented the first time that Trump’s allies have raised the prospect of knocking down the Kennedy Center – a 100ft-high complex with a concert hall, opera house and theatre – as the dire alternative to closing it for two years of improvements. Such an aggressive move would be sure to face legal challenges, protests and an outcry from historic preservation groups.

The threat emerged on Monday as the administration urged a federal judge to reject a fresh legal challenge to Trump’s efforts to put his name on the Kennedy Center. The dispute has become part of a months-long battle over the president’s attempt to alter the memorial created by Congress in honour of John F Kennedy, the 35th US president who was assassinated in 1963.

[–] dellish@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Look, if Trump wants a memorial building named after him all he has to do is get himself assassinated. He just has do the first step and we'll totally take care of the rest, ok?

Please do Step One, Trump. Please?

[–] SaltSong@startrek.website 114 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Could this man be a bigger asshole?

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 50 points 3 days ago

He’s always searching for new and exciting ways

[–] fulcrummed@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago

No. He’s a toroidal sphere, essentially pure asshole.

[–] stickyprimer@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Don’t tempt him, Frodo.

This asshole is the modern Caligula. Shouldn't be allowed out of prison, much less running/destroying the country.

[–] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

The only reasonable response is:

DO IT, MOTHERFUCKER!

Stop trying to reason with this clown.

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 days ago

You truly did!

[–] stumu415@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago

Still working hard to improve the life of the American people I see.

[–] PorradaVFR@lemmy.world 46 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

In a surprising development the Republican Congress did fuck all about it and SCOTUS threw up their hands and said “who, me?”

Meanwhile the media blamed Biden because he likes ice cream.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 39 points 3 days ago

Paved over Jackie Kennedy's rose garden. Put in a garish boxing ring, then a helipad.

[–] FluidBeef@quokk.au 19 points 3 days ago

The funny thing is that a contractor will do this even though they will never be paid by Trump and then eventually probably go to prison after he is too dead to pardon them.

He's the kid that breaks the toys in daycare so nobody else can play with them.

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 28 points 3 days ago

come on, make a deal with him. Kennedy got his name on it by being assassinated. Maybe something along similar lines??

[–] CorrectAlias@piefed.blahaj.zone 26 points 3 days ago (5 children)

Better demolished than have Trump on it.

The moment he focuses on anything it is fucked. Look at his past business dealings. Dude is walking, stupid cancer bragging about how it wins at everything.

[–] Prior_Industry@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And half of America went "that's my guy!"

In the last election it was only like 80 million votes.

We are being held hostages by far fewer than half of the country.

[–] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If I can't have it, nobody can. Someone deal with his man and his cabal of pedophile lovers, already.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Will no one rid me of this troublesome president?

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

A good start would be citizens who are in states with recall clauses starting to enact them. granted it would only help 12 of the states as the rest lack a framework for it but, the majority of the states who have the recall process, also have legislators that refuse to do anything about it.

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

He's going to have the same attitude when it comes time for him to leave office.

[–] Major_Tsiom@fedia.io 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Jesus Christ. The fuck head is mad with power. It's cock obvious the guy is demented.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Not just that, he also has a cabal behind his throne who wants him to remain in power so that they get their deals and schemes rubber-stamped.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I'm not rich by any means, but if we pool our money together, can't we get a hitman? I'm so tired of the world turning to shit because of an egotistical child rapist. I want him dead. Six feet under.

Hell, I'll do it myself, considering I don't have a strong will up live, but I don't think I'll ever be in the same country as the orange shit.

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

People keep trying, it's just that the secret service insists on doing its job which, there's a time and place guys.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I think we need to start paying for google SEO optimization to get PSA's to secret service agents... (honestly, I don't know how they could stand there strapped with iron, and not have 'I could do so much good' floating through their head.)

I suspect most of Trump's secret service detail consists of absolute lunatic sycophants, hell all things considered Vance may have the most normal detail out of the non-former presidential details IE Obama, Clinton, Biden, Dubya.

Now I'm wondering if Congress could just strip the security budget for the president, like it'd be piss easy to justify with the current dipshits in charge.

[–] decolo@piefed.social 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

you know how most Roman emperors got removed? They didn't pay their bodyguards.

Find a way to make them uncomfortable and things might start to change.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

All it really takes is one too many midnight hamberder runs

[–] Zier@fedia.io 3 points 3 days ago

Why pay when Iran will do it for free?

[–] Lanske@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So many people who own guns in 'Merica, and no one is willing to shoot the bastard?!

[–] KC_Royalz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

All were Republicans and all of them had the accuracy of storm troopers

[–] droniecarp@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 days ago

Fuck this piece of shit, release the child raping and sex trafficking files.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 8 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Gee, I hope some really stealth vigilante group does not start destroying properties with trumps name on them. Sure would be a shame if something bad happened. Don't spread that around though.

[–] EchoCranium@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

If he damages more public property, we should send killdozers to level Mar-a-Lago. Seems fair.

[–] Pika@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

While I don't advocate for said actions, if actions were to occur, I think it would be better to have them happen after the presidency. I don't trust that he wouldn't somehow smuggle federal money into repairing it.

[–] KaChilde@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago

Wouldn’t be much of a stealth group if people were talking about it on here.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 7 points 3 days ago

do it. will just be more historical evidence of the worst president in us history. you know for a time I would pose if he was worse than nixon or some other pres could take the title but the white house demolition cemented the title with him and he keeps adding to the score every week.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 4 points 3 days ago

The Orange Pedo is such a great representative of this MAGAt base.

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)
[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 11 points 3 days ago

Yes, the more scars he leaves then the more likely future generations of Americans might remember what he did and what they are capable of doing.
