The only reason I keep Facebook is for unhinged stuff like this

Please no emotions, I don't want to get my snowflake fee-fees hurt while suffering from the consequences of my moronic actions

It's irritating that ivermectin now carries the stink of weird alternative medicine people. Its really helpful for treating rosacea (for which it is approved by the fda as a topical prescription drug, under the name soolantra)

Like its a perfectly useful antiparasitic and antiinflammatory, but now it will always just be "that weird horse dewormer that dumbfucks take"

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Just about everything has been turned into a political issue in the last decade. Medicine (not Healthcare... modern medicines/drugs themselves), beer brands, avocados on toast, beef, eggs, children's films/books (that's not new, I guess, just hitting new levels recently), gas stoves, holidays, black pilots, etc.

[–] mursejoy@lemmy.zip 30 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I’m convinced that conservatives wake up in the morning and just choose something to be mad at. Green MnM losing her high heels, gas stoves, Starbucks, avocado toast, etc.

[–] expr@programming.dev 11 points 1 month ago

It's not that far from the truth, it's just the thing they pick is what they saw on Fox News that morning.

This is my friend's very most favorite internet article

https://www.phillymag.com/news/2018/08/11/mayonnaise-industry-millennials/

It is about how millennials are ungrateful, unpatriotic mayonnaise haters. It does not appear to a joke article. It fills her with so much joy lol.

[–] Enkrod@feddit.org 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Holy shit 🤣

My son Jake, who’s 25, eats mayo. He’s a practical young man who works in computers and adores macaroni salad. He’s a good son. I also have a daughter. She was a women’s and gender studies major in college. Naturally, she loathes mayonnaise.

[–] manxu@piefed.social 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I think the tragedy is the mom not realizing that the mayo on the shelves today is for the most part only a distant relative of the "oil and egg yolk emulsion" she used to eat as a child.

That is, Millennials are justly rejecting a 100% chemical mix supposed to taste like a natural food, but whose ingredient list looks like a who's who of food processing science, while it makes her fondly remember something that spoiled quickly if not eaten after opening. You can't blame the young'uns for not having your memories.

I'll join your friend. This is allso my favorite article now.

Lmao i really loved this part

They’re also shunning their parents’ preferred restaurants — Applebee’s, Ruby Tuesday, TGI Fridays — to seek out more authentic fare. Old-school eateries, in turn, are diversifying in their search for new customers. Just this year, Red Lobster rolled out a waffles-and-lobster option, and Red Robin launched a vegan burger. You don’t put mayo on a vegan burger.

Other favorites are

I’m not part of the elderly mayo masses; I’m turkey and Swiss on ciabatta with tzatziki, chipotle spread and a little basil pesto. That’s who I am, dammit. My sandwich, my self.

This is bullshit. This attitude comes to you from young people who willingly slurp down eight kazillion kinds of yogurt, not to mention raw fish and pork belly and, yo, detergent pods, so don’t talk to me about mayonnaise.

I thought young people today were supposed to be all about inclusion — about kindness and compassion and making other people feel welcome. So how about you include a little mayo in your picnic fare?

Just because something is old and white doesn’t mean it’s obsolete. Look at Shakespeare. Look at me.

Yeah those things all just mysteriously "became" political.

We'll never be able to truly know who made "black pilots" political 🙄

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Its really helpful for treating rosacea (for which it is approved by the fda as a topical prescription drug, under the name soolantra)

Interesting as fuck. Not something you'd expect as an outsider.

[–] Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

(Not the one who down voted you, I dunno why someone did that) what do you mean by as an outsider? Just that you don't have rosacea? :)

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I knew as I was writing it that the term was bad, but couldn't think of a good one. I meant layman, or something equivalent just for the field of medical science instead of law :-)

It would hilarious, and sad, if it eventually becomes a controlled substance over abuse concerns.

With the screw worm on its way back, we might need it pretty still.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 99 points 1 month ago (3 children)

You know what they call alternative medicine that actually works? Medicine.

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

When the heart started failing dostors became a good choice lol

[–] Jolteon@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The problem is that's not actually alternative medicine. It's medicine, just misused.

Maybe let a doctor decide on what your body really needs, not the price of the bottle?

Horrific, anyone have a good explanation for what I went through?

Well, it wasn’t a high quality educational system, that’s for sure.

I want to jump out of my highschool window after smoking angel dust sometimes. Anyone have a good explanation for what I went through?

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 month ago

Totally normal. Your body is just releasing all the toxins you've built up over a lifetime of not smoking angel dust.

Show the YouTube videos to the EMT to educate them!

It’s polite to warn the people responsible for saving your life that you’re gonna be a frequent flyer

[–] fedikitty@piefed.social 20 points 1 month ago

The way I gasped when I read the word ivermectin.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 19 points 1 month ago (2 children)

This is why vets don't give heartgard to new patients unless you do a heartworm test first.

OOP probably has heartworms.

Too late. Should have started with that, dumbass.

lol. Ivermectin is still being ingested by humans in 2026...

[–] Jolteon@lemmy.zip 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hey, it's a perfectly reasonable solution for humans suffering from parasites. Just because some idiots take it for other things doesn't reduce its usefulness as a drug for humans under specific conditions.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 13 points 1 month ago (2 children)

My personal theory is that a not insignificant number of the people who took it and felt better outside of normal disease progression curves just had worms too.

As in all the other living being on this planet, stupidity in human being should also/usually be fatal and not coddled with ambulances and health care.

[–] jdf038@mander.xyz 8 points 1 month ago

Yeah this is a waste of healthcare services for sure.

You know they voted in a way that made that ride expensive and will just go ahead and vote to make it even worse

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 10 points 1 month ago

Thoughts and prayers!

[–] LilyVess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wait. Can someone explain to me what just happened? I just googled those two meds and both are anti-parasites... What is happening here? Why are that expensive and why did they took them??

A failed Darwin award attempt.

Take a larger dose next time.
