Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.
  8. All Lemmy.World Terms of Service apply.

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 1 points 1 month ago

Man you have to get your facts straight. It's both before and after

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sure they will, can't vote for a LIBERAL!

/s

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago

What's /s about that?

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

because they agree with the ideas, just not with the execution

[–] VinegarChunks@lemmus.org 5 points 1 month ago

They agree with the policies, they just don’t like the results that those policies inevitably produce, and fail to ever connect cause and effect.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Plenty of these clowns wanted a DeSantis or a Cruz and are more than happy to proclaim, "I only voted for Trump because Democrats Are Worse!"

It's the mirror image of the neoliberal ghoul who wanted President Pete Buttigieg or President Michael Bloomberg, but swallowed their pride and dutifully lined up for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 months ago

or some conservatives dont vote at all, but you hear them bitching about DEMS on thier platforms, like they did.

[–] ChristerMLB@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

yeah, the graph of his approval ratings kind of confirms that: up when there's elections, and then down when he's in power

[–] Fandangalo@lemmy.world 70 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Focus group of 10 people feels kinda meaningless.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What about a focus group of 10 large language models?

[–] Septimaeus@infosec.pub 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Assuming they are trained on datasets that do not control for this classification, and are derived from the product of more than ten individuals I think it’s safe to expect, unironically, that yes the results would be more predictive. (ETA: but not grounded, and pointless as a survey.)

[–] sirboozebum@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Always been curious how effective focus groups are and what sample sizes would be considered representive of the general population.

[–] Brainsploosh@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

This is regularly answered by statisticians

[–] greedytacothief@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lol focus group of 10 people.

[–] Poojabber@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

It was very focused. Turns out that 100% of people do not like beef. I once asked 1 peoples and all 100% of them said they dont.

[–] lemmelemmy@feddit.org 28 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So they’ve asked 10 people and made it an article. Good journalism.

[–] sunbeam60@feddit.uk 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Tbf beats 99% of the slop you read today.

Willful ignorance didn’t pay off?

Pissing off us libs didn’t pay off?

Giving Lord Feltersnatch unlimited power didn’t pay off?

an overall sense that the system, even under the man they voted for, just isn't working.

I have a worrying feeling that for these people, fixing the system doesn't mean anything like "kick all the billionaires out of politics, change the electoral system & senate to give people genuinely equal representation, and start arresting politicians who take bribes and make millions on insider trades".

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 6 points 1 month ago

Ever play wolfeinstien? BJs dad is who I think these ppl are.

"This a white man's country and we got to keep it Christian" pos even sold his wife to nazis.

[–] riskable@programming.dev 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Only one of the focus group members, a 24-year-old engineer from New York named Alvin, gave Trump a 5 out of 5, praising him for "trying to bring back manufacturing jobs" even though manufacturing growth has slowed.

So basically, only the delusional think he's doing a good job. I'd say this is like, "just my opinion, man" but no: That's literally what the focus group discovered! It's a fact.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 months ago

and engineers were one of the first fields to suffer in covid too, with layoffs, somehow i dont they fully recovered from that.

[–] BoosBeau@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

TBF there's probably only like 10 of them that understand the word "humiliation", so the low focus group makes sense

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 months ago

There are all traitors. Betrayed their country for a narcissist peddle rapist war criminal mafia boss traitor of the worst kind. Fuck them all.

[–] Bumrocky@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

But they still think they're better off than voting for someone else. The stupidity is endless

[–] adhdsergio@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

THEN FUCKING VOTE THIS NOVEMBER

Thanks for adding the gift link, much appreciated.

[–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Isn't that a tracker code at the end?

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

In a sense, yes. For the giver, anyway. You can only give a gift link if you have an account, and the gift links you generate (usually limited to a certain number per month) are tied to your account.

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Perhaps because the NY Times is a shitty company that doesn't deserve our clicks? And is paywalled much of the time...

[–] skooma_king@piefed.social 3 points 2 months ago

But to then post Raw Story? Bottom of the barrel

[–] ledasll@lemmy.wtf 5 points 1 month ago

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Have they stood in a corner and thought about what they've done?

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Lol you've always been a humiliation, but now even the dummies are more aware.

[–] ChristerMLB@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago

America is worse? The entire world is worse

[–] BlackLaZoR@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago
