Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I saw this a while ago (week or 2?)

And I still haven’t had the pertinent question answered:

IS THE SPIDER OKAY?!

[–] 0ndead@infosec.pub 155 points 2 hours ago (3 children)
[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 45 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The spider should be given another chance.

[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 27 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Any Go fund me for the poor spider?

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 2 points 48 minutes ago* (last edited 48 minutes ago)

They should turn Go Fund Me into a cage match or something. Let people donate against the cause and whicher group wins gets to pick where the money goes. The against group would have to pick a charity.

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 1 hour ago

Thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery. Must have been traumatizing biting a massive anal polyp.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 3 points 45 minutes ago

The spider but into a massive piece of shit. It needs time to get the taste out of its chelicerae.

[–] Le_Mon2@lemmy.zip 23 points 1 hour ago

The spider was acting in self defense. Except actually and for real.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person

[–] LadyMeow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 68 points 2 hours ago (3 children)

How on earth has this nothing of a person become like… celebrity gossip?

Wild that anyone other than maybe his family knows or cares he got a spider bite or that he’s in the hospital.

The GQP can turn any little turd into a grifter, can’t they?

[–] vagrancyand@sh.itjust.works 52 points 2 hours ago (3 children)

He is a double murderer who cross state lines with an illegally obtained firearm and then got off because racism is second only to capital in the hierarchy of the US and he's the right color.

It's pretty easy to see why 'news' agencies would love to promote him, people will always click, either out of concern or schadenfreude

This point self defense isn't about being in the right, it's about being whose left and white.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The claim was the firearm was already in Wisconsin, no carrying over state lines necessary. As for the rest, I don’t think that state had any laws on the books re that firearm, wth open carry, iirc. After that it comes down to a court deciding whether or not the shooting was just, which was up to 12 people who were not us.

Remember, every state has different gun laws, some of which have none, only leaning back on 2A as their one regulation.

Regardless of the shooting circumstances, what kind of person do you have to be to allow yourself to be paraded around like this? Says something about his general mentality and implies sordid things about the shooting itself.

Ask OP why they posted it, or anyone who up voted why they did...

This is capitalism, hate views count the same as any other.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 3 points 2 hours ago

He even looks like a bully’s sycophantic follower trying to be cool.

He learned what most people try not to learn in life, that he can kill a man, while LARPing, and this is how he’s dealing with it.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 6 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

The fact this is newsworthy is just sad.

[–] IAmYouButYouDontKnowYet@reddthat.com 1 points 29 minutes ago* (last edited 28 minutes ago)

If America as a whole was a single person I would think they were mentally ill and a psychopath. I don't mean like mentally ill because they are a psychopath...

[–] CoolSouthpaw@lemmy.world 35 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Can't make this shit up haha. Hope the piece of shit dies lmao.

[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 hours ago

You’re absolutely wrong about him! He’s a PILE of shit, not a piece.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

It's not nice to call spiders "pieces of shit" 🕷️🥺/s

[–] OR3X@lemmy.world 15 points 2 hours ago

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 1 points 47 minutes ago

[–] Captainautism@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 hours ago

This news is weeks old.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 10 points 2 hours ago

God's spider

brown recluse

Fuck this dude and all, but if you get bitten by one of those, you best jam to the hospital.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

I hope he takes his sweet fucking time getting there.

I've known a person or two who have been bitten by brown recluses, and both had a big scar where they were bitten.

[–] TheGoldenV@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Oh yes that is the best practice. He’s still a flappy wuss though

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Also, hospitals don't hospitalize just because a patient is a "wuss". Like going to the ER for a brown recluse bite is not a wuss move; it's just common sense.

The story is three weeks old now, so I can't throw out the "hope it kills 'im" bit, but it's obvious going to the ER was the correct move given he was hospitalized.

[–] vagrancyand@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

I mean yes you do need hospitalization for debriding but unless you're bit directly on an artery you've got a few days. The big danger in Brown Recluse venom is the necrosis around the site burrowing down, causing secondary infections. For most people with health immune systems you've got days before it's more than a nasty black spot with moderate pain and intense itching around it.

Most people don't realize they're bit until a few days later when the mysterious bruise turns black in the middle.

Too small to get a fang into

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Couldn't have happened to a bigger cunt

[–] nightwatch_admin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Please don’t insult cunts!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 2 hours ago

Did Kyle cross state lines to intimidate that spider?

[–] Mantzy81@aussie.zone 6 points 2 hours ago

Misleading headline: Rittenhouse is the venomous spider and he accidentally bit himself whilst licking his own butt

[–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I gotta admit, I didn’t have “Kyle Rittenhouse hospitalized following bite from venomous spider” on my 2026 Bingo card. Lack of imagination, I guess.

[–] wuffah@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

NBC “news” everyone. Jesus, everything about this is just a big fuckin’ dumpster. It would be better if the dumpster was on fire because then at least it might be entertaining.

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Let's all hope for a positive outcome.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 hours ago

I wonder if rfk loser I mean junior saw it on the ground picked it up juggled it with some snakes for a bit and then threw it at Kyle? Either way, I hope the spider is doing okay.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Does he have to be?
