Enough Musk Spam

544 users here now

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Government mandated ad-buys don’t sound very “free speech” to me.

[–] Maiq@lemy.lol 14 points 2 years ago

Doesn't sound "free market" either.

I mean, he's got no leg to stand on. This isn't even just a free speech issue, it's a compelled speech issue. You can't force people to use your platform just because you're mad it's losing popularity.

[–] Omgpwnies@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Let's take this to the conclusion he wants... advertisers are now forced to put ads on shitter: "Elon Musk is a little piss baby....brought to you by Carl's Jr"

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 years ago

Honestly, I'd respect this but might have the intended effect of people coming back to twitter to see the ad.

[–] ramble81@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah at most he could try for breach of contract if they broke their contract to leave. But if they already were no longer under contract or they could prove material cause to break the contract then there’s not much he can do.

This man was able to permanently delete this picture from the internet forever. I wouldn't fuck with him

Totally Gone

Neat. I'm going to sue Tesla for not giving me a free car!

If you're wealthy they let you do it. Just grab the DOJ by the...

This lawsuit is the latest in a string of largely unsuccessful legal actions taken by Musk.

What a poor excuse for a human being.

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 24 points 2 years ago

First amendment for me but not for thee.

[–] KLISHDFSDF@lemmy.ml 18 points 2 years ago (3 children)
[–] NutWrench@lemmy.ml 12 points 2 years ago

Yup. Musk literally told advertisers to go fark themselves, advertisers said:

And now, Musk is mad that they left. Any judge will toss this lawsuit immediately.

Sounds kind of like I Hate You, Don't Leave Me.

overpays for twitter, reduces revenue, increases legal costs... doesn't sound like business genius

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don't know that "advertise on my platform or I'll sue you" is going to work any better than "go fuck yourselves" when it comes to attracting advertising revenue to your website.

[–] Gsus4@mander.xyz 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I hope they argue in court that he told them to go fuck themselves, so they followed his orders...much like the famed warship of old.

its kinda fun watching a piece of shit human being trip over himself, landing square on his own face.

a delight!

[–] ThePantser@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

Those advertisers should just run anti Trump and Musk ads.

Don't Vote for Trump! -Brought to you by Chipotle

Elon Musk is a Pedo, so buy a General Motors vehicle not Tesla.

[–] marine_mustang@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 years ago

I’d like the official GARM (defendant) response to be “Go fuck yourself”.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How does this guy's mind work? To first think this'll work, and then a second time after his lawyers said it doesn't work like that.

[–] blaue_Fledermaus@mstdn.io 3 points 2 years ago

When was the last time he listened to anyone besides the voices in his head?

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Need to get rid of the yes-peeps and get some reality-peeps cause you know no lawyer worth a shit thinks this is a good case, yet they've filed it because a ketamine freak is mad that he's ruined his latest toy.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Someone is suing Fromsoft because Shadow of the Ertree is "too hard." Clearly there are lawyers that would take really dumb, unwinnable cases like this one.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 years ago

Yes. The type who are employed as corporate counsel and have to do as Daddy Ketamine Freak desires.

[–] VelvetStorm@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

the one place that you can express yourself freely and openly —

Unless you are trans or care about trans issues or are even curious about gender identity issues or if you are against Musk personally or against nazis or conservatives(same thing) or against spreading misinformation or deep fakes with politicians in them or just plain old conspiracy theories. I mean, other than that stuff and a lot more, you are totally free.

[–] bazus1@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

What's this? The consequences of his own actions?!?

[–] Lanusensei87@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

How do Elmo and Linda figure any potential future advertisers will look at this?

[–] OsrsNeedsF2P@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago

I really thought this article would give some light on the legitimacy of X's lawsuit. Unfortunately there appears the be none

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He should just change the platform’s name to Hitler

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Putin's public programming.

[–] crawancon@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

it's called freedom of expression .

users are expressing their opinions on Elon's actions by leaving.

companies are expressing their opinions on Elon's actions by not advertising.

Elon should just go away.

[–] drdabbles@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

You must speak on my free speech platform, and you have to pay me for it. Or else!
